The Wooden Plank is a blunt weapon featured in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide.
Overview[]
Wooden planks, like the other makeshift weapons, don't scale their stats to the Hero's level so their usefulness to the player decreases over time. In addition, they cannot be modified, cannot be upgraded, cannot be repaired at a workbench, and are discarded automatically by the Heroes when they reach 0% durability. It is essentially a large, partially broken board with a thin end serving as the handle and a thicker end serving as the striking surface. Their stats are incredibly poor, with comparable damage and force to the Fists but with the added downside of incredibly bad durability. They can only take out one or two Walkers at low level before breaking, so their use is severely limited. Combined with the fact that they are unlevelled so don't scale their stats with the hero, can't be upgraded or repaired nor are compatible with any weapon Mods means they're completely useless to anyone after just a few levels. There is a version of the wooden plank that has nails in it adding slightly higher damage and, much like the original wooden plank, is also discarded once it reaches 0% durability.
Variants[]
- Fence Plank
- Nailed Plank
- Wooden Plank
Notes[]
- The Wooden Plank can be most easily found in the Resort found in buildings with wooden floors and walkways (i.e. Bungalows and Beach Bars).
- For some odd reason, they are quite uncommon, even for a basic melee weapon. Fence Planks are the rarest of them all to be found.
- Wooden Planks are commonly found being carried by Walkers as a weapon and are then often thrown at the Hero when they are out of their melee range.
- For some odd reason, when thrown like this, they deal a lot of damage and can often one shot kill the hero at any level, if not leave them on a sliver of health.
