White Line is a hard difficulty side quest given to the Hero by Bruce in Dead Island: Riptide.

Synopsis[]

Bruce requests that the hero go to the shack where a drug dealer lived and retrieve some drugs for him.

Walkthrough[]

  • Talk to Bruce to start the quest. Bruce is located in the northern part of Halai Village, not too far from the safe house in the middle of the village. He's right next to the dead zone where you first find Marcus Villa.
  • He's huddled on the ground and wants the hero to go to a drug dealer's den and retrieve some drugs for him. He assures you that the guy is dead 'or dead-ish anyway'.
  • Head out of the village and head straight for the waterways. Go to the raised main road where you normally enter the village from.
  • You can either head towards the junction in front of Marik's Marina and enter the water through the trailer park, or you can backtrack to the Zimakani Rest and get to the water that way.
  • However you do it, head towards the top of the map. The den is located in the Breri Outpost, at the bottom of the outpost.
  • It looks on the map as a shack with a circle next to it. The shack is located on top of a relatively sheer cliff face that can only be reached by climbing.
  • You can see the hut when travelling through the water, so you can either use the vines and ladder to climb up to it or you can approach it from the other side by cutting across the centre of the Breri Outpost and using Hanging Joe to reach the hut. If you do this, however, there's a lot more zombies to fight.
  • You enter the shack by using the main double doors to get in.
  • Inside you'll see the shack is mostly unfurnished and a single room, with no drugs in sight. What is inside, however, is the ex-drug dealer who is a named boss zombie called Mr. Dead. Mr. Dead is basically a giant Infected with the health of a Thug. He's difficult to take down if unprepared.
  • Once Mr. Dead is, well, dead, you can search the room better.
  • In the corner, by a stack of mattresses, is a floor hatch. Open it and descend into the drug den.
  • You'll travel through a small corridor to the small drug lab, filled with equipment. The drugs are sitting on the table with the equipment.
  • However, the hero has a change of heart and mutters that they can't give Bruce the drugs and let him kill himself.
  • You can now take a vial off the table which is called 'fake drugs'. Take it and exit the hut.
  • Return to Bruce the way you came. He's still sitting in the same hut in Halai.
  • Talk to him to give him the fake drugs and finish the quest.

Notes[]

  • Bruce becomes a merchant for you if you complete this quest.
  • Mr. Dead is a difficult opponent if you're not prepared or on full health. Use Rage mode if you have it, otherwise you can use some other tactics on him.
  • If you throw a molotov at him and then close the door, you'll inflict a lot of free damage on him, as he can't open doors. Just make sure you catch him with the full amount.
  • If you still have the flare gun that Trevor gave you near the start of the game, you can repeatedly shoot him with it using the same tactic. Open the door, shoot him in the head, then close the door and wait for him to take full damage from the fire. If you've built up a stock of free ammo from Paradise Survival Camp, you should be able to repeat it until he's dead.
  • If you've completed some of the team quests by now, you might also have a stock of other explosives depending on who's quests you've completed. These are very useful for getting a lot of damage on him quickly.
  • You can also set a mine by the door before you open it, so he will charge at you and set off the mine. If you use multiple, it can kill him instantly.
  • You can use the boat to quickly get around the waterways to complete this quest a little quicker, however this will cause extra Drowners to spawn and rush you the entire way.
  • There's usually a Floater at the Zimakani Rest if you go that way, so watch out.
  • You can find the civilian rescue quest Rescue Stanley if you go a little further north from the drug dealer's shack.
  • There's two metal chests and a workbench in the drug dealer's shack, so make full use of them.
