Waterdance is a medium difficulty side quest automatically given to the Hero when approaching the City Tunnel Gas Station in Dead Island.
Synopsis[]
Turn off the electricity in the gas station.
Walkthrough[]
- You'll automatically be given this quest when nearing the gas station for the first time.
- The switches can be done in any order, but all three must be turned off to complete the quest.
- The easiest switch to perform is to keep driving to the City Tunnel entrance. I'm assuming you're in a vehicle to drive to the gas station.
- Burning Infected will constantly spawn in the tunnel and sprint at you. Nothing can change this. Wait for the first group to spawn and run them over with the vehicle to safely kill them.
- Once they're dead, quickly get out and use some of the nearby interactable crates to create some steps which you can use to access the ladder leading to the walkway above the tunnel. This is where the switch is located. Blue outlines will show you where to place the crates after you pick one up.
- Quickly climb onto the ladder and climb onto the walkway. The switch is located at the far end. Interact with it to turn it off.
- More Infected will have likely spawned, so wait for them to gather at the bottom of the ladder. You can now either throw something like a molotov to clear them out, or you can climb back down the ladder and jump off onto the nearby truck to get above them. Either way, kill them as they'll follow you otherwise.
- The second switch is located in the gas station complex, so get into your vehicle and drive into the gas station through the entrance.
- It's located in the large shed right in front of you. Between it and you are a bunch of Walkers and possibly a Thug. Run them all over in your car until they die.
- Two Infected are also in the shed. Run them over too, as they'll charge at you anyway.
- Once everything is dead, get out the vehicle and run into the shed. The switch is located at the back on the right. Interact with it to turn it off as well.
- The final switch is located in the warehouse at the back of the gas station. Obviously, you can't go through the electricity, even with a car, so head to the left of the main building and run to the back.
- You'll see the warehouse in front of you, as well as a wrecked car and pile of boxes. Use the boxes to get into the fenced off area. This is how you'll get into the warehouse, as the main door is locked.
- Head all the way around the fenced off area until you reach a side door and ladder leading up. The ladder only leads onto the roof and there's not much up there. You'll also see an Infected on the other side of the fence, but he can't get you, so ignore him for now. You can kill it with some headshots if you have a firearm, but this early into the game you'll likely not.
- Open the door to the warehouse and be prepared to kill some zombies! There's Walkers, a Thug as well as an Infected inside. If you have a few molotovs spare, throw one in and then close the door. This will easily kill a few of them, but it's not good for all of them.
- Kill the Infected first, as it poses the biggest threat, then kill the Walkers. The Thug is best deal with as a 1v1 situation, so kill its little friends first.
- After all the zombies inside are dead, turn off the third and final switch. It's located to the left of the main door. Also remove the barricade of the door so you can get out!
- Once you turn off the final switch, the quest will automatically complete. The electricity is now off and you can get onto the gas station roof. Just remember that if you haven't killed that Infected outside the warehouse, he will attack you once you exit the main door.
Notes[]
- You'll probably complete this quest while completing the main quest Seek'n'Loot.
- It is possible to skip turning off the switches by just simply hugging the gas station wall and reaching the ladder. Only 3 health bars will be gone if it's done fast enough. Keep in mind that doing this will be faster but riskier.
- It is also possible to skip turning off the switches by jumping on top of the red car, making a dash run and then jumping on to the roof top of the workshop.
- The switch above the tunnel can easily be accessed by driving a vehicle up to the ladder and climbing up on top of it, bypassing having to stack the crates onto each other.
- There is a car near the gas station if you came on foot.
- There's some metal chests in the warehouse at the back of the warehouse, making it a good idea to open it up anyway. There's also a workbench here.
- ID Card 24 is on the roof of the gas station shop. Be sure to first take out the Thug and the Walker on top.
