The Second Head of Cerberus is a medium difficulty side quest given to the Hero by Garett Grant in Dead Island.
Synopsis[]
The Hero must activate a series of loudspeakers along the Waterfront District of Moresby.
Walkthrough[]
- Talk to Garett Grant to start the quest. He's in his recording studio where you delivered the recording to him.
- He needs you to activate the next series of loudspeakers so he can broadcast Mother Helen's message to any survivors. These ones are located on the waterfront district by the river coast.
- Head to the road outside the recording studio and head to the left, the long way down the road towards the buildings at the far end, not up the hill.
- There'll be some Infected and Walkers for you to fight but they shouldn't be too difficult.
- Once you reach the end of the road you'll see it opens out. There's usually more Infected and a Suicider here, so watch your back.
- There's a ladder on the wall which lets you climb up to the rooves of the houses. Make you way along them until you find a gap which leads outside to a set of wooden boards. You'll need to parkour over the boards to the buildings across the corner. If you fall down, you'll need to return to the ladder and climb up to try again.
- You'll need to make your way across the roof to reach the first speaker. It's right out in the open with just a Walker playing dead in front of it. There's not many zombies on the Moresby rooves, so there's no real danger for you up here. Turn on the first speaker.
- You'll need to now drop back down to the road to get onto the next building. There's several Rams in this area, so be very careful when dropping down. Take out the Rams if you need to, since they will often catch sight of you and come for you.
- You're looking for a ladder facing the water, on the side of a building. There's usually a couple of Walkers milling about near it, so look for them to find the ladder.
- Climb up it and continue along the roof. You're looking for a caged off area, which holds the second speaker control.
- To get into the cage, there's some wooden boards making a precarious walkway to the opening. Carefully navigate your way over the boards to enter the cage and turn on the second speaker.
- Now you need to drop down back to the road. As before, there's likely a Ram or two here, as well as Walkers and possibly the odd infected. You can always take out the Ram and some of the Walkers with a throwable like a molotov or deo-bomb before you drop down.
- Stick to box vans and cars to give yourself the high ground over the zombies as you make your way down the road, following the minimap icon.
- The speaker control is hidden behind some movable crates outside of a building. Clear out the area and move the boxes to be able to crouch under the wood and access the speaker control. Turn on the third speaker.
- The fourth and final speaker is at the end of the road. Get back onto the road and continue down it towards the T-junction. Here's where the final speaker is located. There's a Thug by it, though, so you'll need to deal with it first. There's also rarely a Ram in the area as well as a couple of Infected, so watch your back before you go to fight the Thug.
- Once the Thug is dead, you might not see the control panel for the speaker. That's because it's mounted up high, above the wall. Walk up to the speaker stand and look up. You should see the red speaker control box. Activate it to turn on the final speaker.
- Now, run back to Garett. If you're quick, the zombies shouldn't have respawned. If they have, use your normal strategies to kill them and return to Garett.
- Once there, talk to him to finish the quest.
Notes[]
- There's a metal chest in the recording studio where Garett is. It often has a good weapon in it so loot it every time you come through.
- Two metal chests are located inside the cage area with the second speaker.
- Another chest is in with the third speaker control.
- You can find ID Card #37 on a table next to the first loudspeaker.
- ID Card #33 is on a porch next to the road. You can easily snag it while going from the third to the fourth speaker.
- Banoi Herald Excerpt #19 is on a fruit stand just in front of the fourth speaker.
- You can easily unlock Nick's Hub and get access to his series of quests.
- Depending on how far through it you are, several of Howard Craigson's poster locations for his side quest Last Chance on the Wall are on your route.
- One is located just outside the third speaker, on a poster board outside Nick's Hub.
- Another is opposite the fourth speaker.
Trivia[]
- The title is a reference to the three-headed dog named Cerberus from Greek mythology.
