The Crash is a very hard difficulty main quest given to the Hero by Trevor Rogers in Dead Island: Riptide.

Synopsis

The hero has to go and find out of Frank Serpo survived the crash.

Walkthrough

  • Talk to Trevor to start the quest.
  • He'll tell you that you need to find Serpo and that the group can't stay on the roof of the Cinema. It looks like the helicopter crashed at The Fort of Henderson.
  • It's a dangerous trek to the Fort, so make sure you're well equipped and stocked up, as you'll encounter at least one Screamer and Wrestler, as well as a multitude of other zombies.
  • Jump down from the roof and head to the courtyard in front of the Cinema like always. Kill whatever is down there, then head under the left archway like normal.
  • Continue heading straight, past the concert plaza and continue under the archway at the far side, heading to the Church.
  • If you have a sniper rifle, it will help a lot. You'll appear at a main square in front of a Church, where a Screamer, Walkers and several Infected sit. It's dangerous because of the Screamer, but with a sniper you'll be able to take it out in a few shots.
  • Once they're all dead, you need to head up the small side alleyway past the ramp down. Don't go down the ramp, stay on high ground.
  • There's a raised platform with a ladder at the corner, this will let you climb over the buildings to get to the other side. Climb over and drop down to the floor.
  • Follow the pathway past the Quarantine Zone and keep following the pathways. It'll get a little confusing, as they're tight and thin, but if you get lost use your minimap and follow the waypoints to get back on track.
  • You'll arrive at the pathway into the Fort, which is a small corridor leading to the Fort on an island.
  • Ascend up the steps to arrive at the parade ground. There's the crashed helicopter here, as well as a load of Walkers and a Thug.
  • Kill the Walkers, then the Thug. Now descend down the small and hidden set of steps next to the crashed helicopter. You'll find a metal door with a bloody handprint on it. This means someone survived. Use the door to enter the catacombs beneath the fort.
  • Once in, go through the first room to the right and follow a blood trail down some stairs. At the bottom, you'll find a gate but it's locked. You need to find another way in.
  • Head back up the stairs and upon reaching the top, a heavy duty door to the right explodes open to reveal a load of Walkers.
  • Kill them all then head through the door. Continue down the corridor until you reach a staircase behind another locked gate.
  • Continue to follow the corridor, since the gate it blocked, to reach a set of double doors on the right. You'll find Walkers on your way, but you can kill them no problem.
  • This door leads into prison cells that contain more Walkers. You passed them earlier when travelling down the corridor. Kill the Walkers and go through the room.
  • You'll arrive in an empty storeroom which gives you some breathing room, before you continue into another room filled with yet more Walkers.
  • These Walkers are all on the floor, so you have some time to get in there and kill them before they can get up. It'll make it a lot easier.
  • Head through the room and follow you minimap waypoints. You'll enter a narrow hallway past more cells to arrive at the end of the corridor where zombies will attack you from both sides which lead into more rooms.
  • Kill the zombies then follow the corridor to find a Thug at the end of it. If you enter into a dead end, turn around and go down the other path.
  • Kill the Thug to find the stairway down that you saw earlier. Descend the stairway to reach the second floor of the catacombs. It's flooded down here, so listen out for splashes of footsteps that aren't your own.
  • Head down the flooded corridor, jumping over obstacles, until a green search circle appears on your minimap. you can find a locked gate on your right. It's the same gate you tried to use when you first entered the catacombs. Remove the pipe blocked it but don't go through it. This is not what you're searching for.
  • There's a door at the other end of the room underneath a sparking light. Break it open to find a soldier inside.
  • He's dying but you can talk to him. He tells you that Serpo abandoned the crew after the crash so he' still going to be alive somewhere. The crew took refuge down here but they were swarmed.
  • The pilot sadly dies after this, but you can still avenge him by finding Serpo. Head out the room and go through the gate you just unblocked. This is a handy shortcut to the outside again.
  • Head back out into the Fort and make your way to the tall, main tower. You'll have to climb over a section of wall to reach him via a ladder.
  • Ascend the tower to find the wounded Serpo at the top.
  • After a heated discussion, the hero finally agrees to work with him for now until they get off the island. A cutscene then plays which shows the rest of the group, perused by zombies, entering the Fort. The Fort then becomes a safehouse and it's where the group will remain until you finish the game. The quest is then finished.

Notes

  • You can grab the katana off of Trevor when starting this quest, as it was the reward from Hardy for completing Rescue but of course he died before he could give it to you.
  • You can easily unlock the Makeshift Hospital while getting to the Fort.
  • There's a metal chest in the helicopter wreckage you can loot.
  • You can find the striker shotgun mod in the first room when you enter the catacombs.
  • The pride rifle mod is in the empty storeroom in the catacombs, as well as a workbench.
  • The razor mod can be found at the bottom of the stairway leading to the flooded floor of the underneath of the Fort. It's located on a shelf.
  • There's various propane tanks in the underneath of the Fort. You can use these on the various groups of zombies to good effect.
