The Chosen One is the sixth story quest featured in Dead Island 2.

Synopsis[]

Return to Emma Jaunt and give her the good news about getting out of Los Angeles.

Walkthrough[]

  • Looks like you're done here...
    • Following their talk with Dr. Reed, Slayers are excited to progress towards escaping Los Angeles. They're eager to get back to Emma Jaunt and tell her the good news.
    • Exit the Ballroom via the main doorway and go through the Foyer to exit the hotel via the front entrance.
  • Head back to Bel-Air.
    • Once out the front entrance, the quickest way to leave the area is to head left, following a side road down the side of the hotel. Some Zombies will be found around here, mostly Walkers, Runners, Shamblers and Riot Gear Walkers. Either kill them for valuable XP, or avoid them if you want to get out of the area quickly.
    • Follow the side road down to the end and head right through the chain fence to reach the main car park, which you passed through on your way to the Hotel.
    • Go left out of the car park, in front of the wrecked ambulance, and go right, towards the sinkhole.
    • At the sink hole, go left down Lacuna Avenue to find your way back to Bel-Air.
    • You will likely encounter a named Crusher here, the Drill Sergeant. He is an optional fight, and should you fight him you will get valuable rewards. However, he is not required to progress the story, so if you want to bypass him and take him on later, then you can.
      • Should you decide to fight him, more detailed information about beating him can be found on his wiki page.
    • Regardless of what you choose, head to the end of the road and take a right to find the transition point back to Bel-Air.
  • Head back to Emma's with the news.
    • Something you'll notice when you load into Bel-Air is that it's night time. The story does this a lot, however don't be too afraid of the dark, since little actually changes in terms of zombies and their placements. However, it will be more difficult to see, so turn on your Flashlight to make things easier.
    • Go forwards from where you spawn and cross the road into the alley, which leads to the GOAT Pen. From here, you're basically backtracking down the way you came to return to Emma's Mansion.
    • Head across the driveway to the lower landing, and ascend up the stairs to the rear deck.
    • Various zombies will be here, along with potentially a Crusher. Now you have met them, they'll appear across the rest of the game, so be prepared to deal with them.
    • Clear out the zombies to make it safe to progress. The easiest way is to use Meat Bait by throwing it into the pool, then hitting the water with your electric Machete to electrocute a bunch of zombies at once. The Crusher will not be fooled by the bait, but the smaller zombies will. Kill the Crusher and any other zombies before proceeding into the mansion and up the stairs.
    • You might hear a woman shouting for you attention, and you can complete the side quest #Clickbait if you talk to her, since the quest takes place entirely on the roof of the GOAT Pen. This is optional, however, so you can come back and complete it later if you wish.
    • Exit the GOAT Pen using the right hand side gate and proceed up the road. Various zombies again will be encountered, mostly Walkers, Shamblers and Runners, however the named Shocking Walker The Cable Guy might be encountered around a knocked down transformer and telephone pole. Like with the Drill Sergeant, the zombie is optional to deal with, though you will gain additional drops from him if you decide to kill him.
    • Either way, continue up the road to the very end, then take a left, heading up the hill using the road, killing any zombies in your way.
    • There's a door leading into Emma's Mansion's grounds which requires you to buzz in using the intercom, so interact with the small metal box near to the door to unlock it and let yourself in.
    • Once inside, head to the main door and enter the mansion.
  • Tell Emma the news about Dr. Reed.
    • Once inside, head left through the double doors and up the staircase on the right to find Emma's bedroom.
    • Enter the bedroom and talk to Emma, filling her in about their conversation with Dr. Reed. She is optimistic at their chances to escape, however doesn't want to do anything without first consulting Michael Anders. Michael, however, has gone missing, so the Slayers need to track him down. This ends the quest.
