The Captain is a character and Boss during the Dead Island: Riptide prologue quest The Storm.
Prologue[]
During the prologue, he captain's the HMAS Avenger and can be heard over the ship's intercom warning everybody about what is happening on the ship.[2] He also comments on the Hero's actions, albeit without knowing about them, when they extinguish the engine fire that broke out.[3] He is later attacked and bitten by a Walker or Infected.[4]
He is first seen at the end of the quest when the Heroes enter the ship's bridge. He has become a Frenzied Thug and the Heroes are forced to kill him and all the zombies present so they can try and regain control of the ship and stop it crashing into some rocks.[5]
Appearance[]
The Captain is a middle to older aged man with slight stubble. He wears a white shirt, green camouflage pants, and black combat boots. He also wears a black captain's hat.[6]
Tactics[]
Since he's a Thug, he's slow and easy to move around. Most regular Thug tactics work against him, including kiting him around the consoles or dodging around him. As you're just in the tutorial mission and lose all your weapons at the end of this, it is best to take him out with the firearms you have collected, like Auto Rifles, Shotguns, or Pistols. Throwing melee weapons at him will also easily finish him off. Don't worry if you miss your throws or lose a weapon since you'll lose them all at the end of the quest anyway.

- He is the first boss zombie the Heroes deal with in Dead Island: Riptide
- He can be heard making Infected sounds instead of Thug sounds, similar to Joe "Ogre" Somare.
