The Tanto is a sharp melee weapon featured in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide.
Overview[]
The Tanto is the closest thing to a marriage between a Katana and Knife, retaining the high damage of the Katana but the range and swing speed of a knife. The Tanto does have high damage, one of the better damages found on a sharp weapon, but has a very low amount of durability and force, with a fast swing speed and little stamina usage. The Tanto has one of the highest damage values for sharp weapons but is ill-advised to be used as it has very short range, meaning you have to get close to a zombie to damage it, at which point it can also get a swing at you. The weapon is also has low durability and a high repair cost, which do not pair well together when it comes to conserving cash. It's also rather rare to find, being sold by very few Merchants. Overall, the weapon does deal good damage but has too many drawbacks to be a primary weapon, making it more of a collectible weapon than anything else.
