For the new weapon introduced in Dead Island: Riptide, see Stun Gun.

The Stun Gun is a crafted firearm introduced and only accessible in the Ryder White's Campaign DLC for Dead Island. It can only be crafted by a blueprint found in the Prison during the second half of the campaign.

Overview[]

The stun gun is an odd weapon. Much like the developer's craft mods, the stun gun does not use up a weapon in your inventory when crafting it. Instead, it makes a brand new weapon from scratch and places it in your inventory. If you don't have space, the weapon will simply drop to the floor upon leaving the workbench. It looks like a normal stun gun, with a blunt end and quite the opposite of a normal pistol. It's unique in that it doesn't use any type of ammo (pistol, shotgun or rifle ammo), it has a slow firing rate, does little damage and is very short range. What it's good for is temporarily incapacitating an enemy upon hitting them. Regardless of their current health or what enemy they are (rebel, Walker, Thug, etc) they will instantly lose all their stamina and fall to the ground. Humans and Infected will get up quite quickly but enemies like Walkers will be out for a good while. It's not effective at killing, requiring around 10 headshots on a rebel to kill them, but for taking them out of the fight it's quite useful.

Notes[]

  • It's very cheap to craft a stun gun, requiring just one LP4000 Battery and $200. However, there's no merchants in the DLC campaign so there's no way of selling any excess stun guns you may craft.
  • The weapon technically has infinite ammo, as it doesn't use up any sort of collectible ammo and while it has a health meter in the quick select menu, it can't be repaired at a workbench.
  • It's impossible to find a stun gun spawning anywhere in the DLC normally.
  • It's similarly impossible to get a stun gun in the main campaign without modding, as it's a DLC exclusive mod.
