Stealth Kill or Stealth Killing is an attack type featured in Escape Dead Island. It can only be performed by a select few weapons and only when undetected by a zombie.
To perform a stealth kill, you must either have the screwdriver or army knife. No other weapons can perform stealth kills, only these two. When crouched, Cliff Calo will have the weapon in his hand as he crouches along. All zombies in Escape get an exclamation mark bar above their head when they detect Cliff. The bar is empty when undetected, yellow when going down due to them not having sight of Cliff and red when it's going up. When fully red, the zombie will actively attack Cliff and he can't stealth kill it.
When undetected, creep up behind the zombie and press the attack button. Cliff will then stand up, grab the zombie's head and rapidly plunge his weapon into its neck, accompanied by a large spray of blood. If using the screwdriver, Cliff will repeatedly stab it 3 times over roughly 5 seconds, but if using the army knife the time is halved and only 1 stab is required.
The stealth kill can be performed on any type of regular zombie in the game, so long as you can get behind it undetected. The stealth kill is also always a one shot kill, regardless of the health of the zombie it is performed on.
Notes[]
- An achievement is tied to this mechanic, Deadly Arts, for killing 25 zombies with a stealth kill.
- It is impossible to stealth kill any of the boss zombies in the game, which is Cliff Calo (Infected), Linda Waterson (Infected) and Aaron Welles, as they are always aware of where Cliff is so it is impossible to re-enter stealth to try and stealth kill them.
Quotes[]
Cliff can say a variety of things after a stealth kill, though not every time. Below are the quotes he can say:
“Get some rest, you look dead tired! Hahaha!”
“Should've watched your six”
“I've been dying to meet you”
“Stick 'em with the pointy end”
“Surprise”
“Keep 'em coming”
“Zombie down”
“Death from behind! Hehehehehe”
“Neutralized”
“Never heard me coming”
