SoLA, also commonly known as the SoLA Festival, is a location featured in Dead Island 2 with the SoLA DLC. It is a large outdoor festival that presents itself as being eco-friendly, with many different renewable energy sources around the area to power it. It was also sponsored by OSK. However, on the final day of the festival, a mysterious beat began playing that turned nearly all of the 30,000 festival goers into zombies within seconds.

Background[]

SoLA was a music festival that was held on grounds that had a history of strange events and the home to scientist Grace Tan. The owners of SoLA tried repeatedly to remove her, but since she moved there before the event was made they couldn't force her to leave. Grace was a thorn in their back for years, as she was cautious of the land and was worried about the owners mistreating it. This was because SoLA wasn't actually as eco-friendly as they pretended to be with them repeatedly burning unsold products, using dangerous chemicals, and having turbines that used energy and didn't produce anything. During SoLA's recent event, they were sponsored by OSK to use their new product the Mood Speaker. Various staff members were confused or scared of the speakers as they didn't understand how they worked and several staff members fell ill after being next to it for too long.

This ultimately lead to the outbreak at SoLA, during the main event at the main stage the speakers turned on an started playing a strange beat. When this happened all 30,000 guest turn into zombies and started to kill the remaining non-infected. All of this was seen by the only survivor, Grace, who didn't turn but was affected by the speakers.
