“Don't get too close or this one'll scream your head off.”
— Cliff Calo's first thoughts on seeing a Siren
Sirens are a type of special infected encountered in Escape Dead Island. They are first encountered on the Tennis Court at the Crown Residence on Narapela, while Cliff Calo is searching for a security keycard. After this, they can be rarely located elsewhere across the island, but are otherwise very rare to see.
Overview[]
Sirens are very much a support style zombie, one which assists fellow, more common and weaker zombies rather than one that works alone or as a fighter. While other zombies like Shamblers distract the survivor as fodder, a Siren sits behind them and disorientates the survivor with loud, piercing screams to distract them and put them off-balance to a point where the other zombies can get in a bite or slash to infect them. The Siren itself can still attack, and is far quicker than the common Shambler, but they will only do so after the survivor has been either disorientated by the scream or distracted by other zombies.
Appearance[]
Sirens are, much like Bouncers, quite naked in their appearance. They have no shirt, no shoes and no trousers, with just a pair of boxer shorts covering them. They are also covered in countless, deep, bloody scratches. (Inferring from their idle animation, these are likely self-inflicted.) Their hands have been mutated and turned into long, sharp claws that are covered in blood, while their hair has mostly fallen out, leaving them nearly bald.
Behaviour[]
Upon spotting a survivor, the Siren will observe to make sure they really are a survivor. When certain, the Siren will emit a loud, piercing scream, alerting all zombies in a large area, whether they're playing dead or not. This means that not only will the ones walking around go for the survivor, but all zombies playing dead and waiting for someone will also come alive, causing the survivor to quickly be overwhelmed and cut off as zombies block their exit ways. The Siren will then either go for the survivor, or hang back and let other zombies attack them, while the Siren supports their attack by screaming every so often with another loud shriek to disorientate the survivor and even cause them to lose consciousness.
Other Sirens[]
Shadow Siren[]
Shadow Sirens are Shadow Zombies made up in Cliff Calo's mind. They act like a Siren. They have 87.5% more health then their normal version.
Strategy[]
- Because Sirens are a more distance focussed zombie, you can kill them from range using a firearm, such as a pistol or assault rifle. The silenced pistol is the best idea, because the Siren will not be able to detect you while you shoot it.
- Entering into melee combat with it is not advised due to its scream ability. It can easily disorientate you, causing you to miss your attack and allowing the Siren to get some easy hits on you.
- If you encounter a Siren with a group of zombies, if you can, try to focus and kill it first, as it will only make fighting the other zombies a lot harder.
- Using environmental effects to kill it is a good idea, as things like electricity can kill it just as easily as any other zombie, but getting the Siren near to it is a different matter, as they can be hard to distract without revealing yourself.
- The same can be said for explosive barrels. Even if the explosion doesn't kill it, it will do a lot of damage, and possibly even distract it to look a different direction, allowing you to finish it with a pistol.
- It is possible to stealth kill a Siren, but it's tricky due to the other zombies near to it, but it's a good idea to do it if you can as this will prevent the other zombies from becoming alert and can even prevent some zombies to spawn.
- Likewise it is possible to execute a downed Siren.
- Pushing a Siren can delay its scream, possibly giving enough time to run away to avoid the encouter entirely.
Notable Sirens[]
Damage and Health[]
Note that keycard carrying Sirens have higher damage and health.
- Sirens have 40 HP.
- Their hit deals 3 damage
- Shadow Sirens have 75 HP.
- Their attacks deal the following damage:
- Hit = 5
- Bite = 4
- Linda has 115 HP.
- Her attacks deal the following damage:
- Hit (high attack speed) = 5
- Leap = 6
Notes[]
- Sirens are very similar and practically identical to Screamers found in Dead Island: Riptide.
- This is the rarest zombie type encountered in Escape Dead Island.
- One is met at the Tennis Court, while another appears at the piles of bodies at the bottom of the mountaintop.
- Taking a picture of the Siren with the Camera gives Snapshot 12.
