The Shambler is a type of zombie featured in Dead Island 2.
Overview[]
Shamblers are former Walkers who have entered advanced stages of decomposition. As such they behave in a similar manner to Walkers but are slower and easier to kill. Shamblers are weak to blunt and explosive damage but are resistant to bleed damage as their rotting bodies lack blood. It should also be noted that their frailness sometimes causes them to dismember themselves when they attack. Despite these glaring weaknesses, Shamblers can be as dangerous as any other normal zombie when in large numbers.
Appearance[]
Shamblers are withered husks of their former selves, being in a far more degraded state than even a regular Walker. Their skin has lost most of its colour, any blood or bites have dried up and most hair has fallen out. The skin is also tight around their bones, especially the chest area. In addition, any clothes they are wearing are highly dirty and damaged, as well as bleached by the sun. They almost never wear footwear such as shoes or sandals.
Behaviour[]
Shamblers are very slow and, as the name suggests, shamble around their immediate area with whatever strength they can muster. They have no aims and do not particularly seek out food in active hunting, instead they just shuffle around aimlessly. When they do manage to spot prey, or are more often alerted to it by some other zombie, they will shamble towards it in a slow walk, which is their top speed, and when they reach the prey they will either attempt to claw them or grapple and bite them.
Strategy[]
- Shambers are incredibly weak to anything and will die in just a few hits from most weapons.
- They are, in fact, so weak that their attacks can maim their own arms.
- If their very low amount of health was not enough, they are also weak to blunt and explosive damage, making it even easier to kill them.
- They are, however, resistant to bleed weapons as they lack blood, however this is relatively moot due to their low base health.
- The Bait Bomb curveball is amazing against them as not only will it attract them to it, but it also explodes and will kill them easily within its vicinity.
- Any explosive curveball works wonders against them, so the Pipe Bomb, Sticky Bomb or Military Grenade are all fantastic curveballs for dealing with them.
- It's generally a waste of ammo to use a firearm against Shamblers due to their low health, however something like an Auto Carbine can easily mow down a group of them with headshots.
- Any elemental effect is excellent against them, and they do not have any idea of hazard avoidance, so they can be easily led into environmental hazards such as electrified water.
