The Serling Hotel is a location featured in Dead Island 2. It is located in Ocean Avenue and is home to a group of survivors of which Reuben Reed is the leader.
Not much is now about the history of the mall and associated hotel. There did seem to be some kind of military presence before LA was cut off from the rest of the world suggesting that it may have been a checkpoint or possible evacuation point which could explain the large number of survivors. The survivors have fortified the the hotel having Denise guard the front entrance at all times, having Bob stop the elevators, and preventing infected from reaching the top floor. Things aren't perfect however as around the time the Slayers arrive the water is off and they are running low on food and medicine, this led people like Jimmy to question the leadership of Dr. Reed especially as he won't let his daughter help on missions.
Layout[]
The mall has three main floors, a hotel, a garbage area, a parking lot and a basement with a boiler room. The main atrium has two staircase (one near the entrance, one near back) with the back staircase being the only one that reaches the third floor. The first floor is normally covered in flammable substances and explosive hazards with the jewelry store having an alarm. The jewelry store and clothes store connect to a back area that leads to the parking lot and boiler room. The second floor also have fire hazards and nothing important on the floor. The third floor connects to the hotel thru the reception area and then the hotel itself with several locked chests being on this floor.
The hotel has a vendor toward the back of the safe zone with a work bench close by. Next to the work bench is the Missing Missions wall, Dr. Reed's office, and two elevators that don't move. A hallway next to the entrance connects to several bed rooms and times back to the vendor at the bar.
The parking lot can be entered from the back area of the main mall or by entering it from the outside from a key pad far to the left from the entrance to the mall. There are also several Fuse locked doors in the back areas of the mall.
