Sam's Bunker

Sam's Bunker is a World War II inland bunker and location featured in Dead Island. It can be found in the Mingende Jungle not far from the River Village. It is the final location visited for the side quest A Wounded Crank when the Heroes have to find medical supplies for Sam who is hiding out in the bunker.[1]

Layout[]

Like all the bunkers found on Banoi Island, the building is made of thick reinforced concrete which is concrete set over interlacing metal rebar. There's a single metal blast door to enter the building while the usual large turret gives good views of the clearing the bunker is sited in. A small path leads from the road to the bunker however the site has become a dumping ground for toxic waste, with many barrels seen scattered about, poured onto the ground and into the pond directly in front of the bunker entrance. The bunker is overgrown with plant life from 70+ years of disuse, though a 'help' sign can be seen from the road hanging off the turret.[2]

Inside the bunker, more waste can be found in the main room, with a pool of it that has metal grating leading to the ladder up to the turret. Inside the turret, some boxes can be seen as well as a load of suitcases, indicating that some survivors were here at some point. Alongside this is two mattresses placed beside each other, further indicating people living here at one point. The back room is barren bar some spare grating and a metal desk.[2]

Notes[]

  • A Metal chest can be found at the back of the turret.
  • The Justice Mod is found next to Sam.
  • Sam will give the Striker Shotgun Mod upon completing his side quest[3], which is easy to accomplish when you first meet him.
  • Several toxic Infected are feasting on a body along the path to the bunker entrance and they can detect the Hero as they walk along the road, so be prepared for an ambush.
  • Fire modded weapons are good for exploring the bunker, as all the Zombies found here are toxic and so will die in one hit from a fire weapon.
  • Unlike the bunkers found at the Resort, the jungle bunkers are not numbered.
