Russian's Bunker

The Russian's Bunker is a World War II inland bunker and location featured in Dead Island. It can be found in the Mingende Jungle not far from the River Village. It is the final location visited for the side quest A Voice from Above the Sky given by Nikolai all the way back in Act I.^[1] The bunker was used as a hideout by the group of Russians on Banoi and the Heroes travel to it to try and get a rescue for Nikolai by his comrades.^[1]

Like most of the bunkers found across Banoi, it is made from thick, reinforced concrete which is concrete mixed with metal rebar to give it more strength. A single blast door gives access to the bunker which is overgrown and covered in moss and plant life from decades of abandonment. There's some graffiti on the outside of the bunker and a small storage area set up in front of it that has some barrels and rubbish dumped under it.^[2]

Inside the bunker, the main area is filled with shelving and boxes, likely as the bunker was used as a storage area and hidden hideout by the Russians who are keeping all sorts of food and equipment in it. Various barrels and wooden boxes are piled up against the walls, some of them on metal shelving. There is the metal ladder leading to the turret which has yet more shelving, boxes and supplies stored here. Several mattresses are seen here as well, indicating that the Russians either slept here or had them set up should they need to hide in the bunker for several days. A radio is set up on a wooden table here along with some stools and another table. The back room of the bunker holds an emergency generator to power the bunker.^[2]

A Metal chest can be found in the turret of the bunker.
A level 3 locked chest can be found in the clearing at the back of the bunker, accessible by going down the side of the bunker where a small path is.
The Razor Mod is found next to the radio in the turret.
A workbench is found in the back room.
A Butcher will often spawn in the bunker after finishing the quest.
Unlike the bunkers found at the Resort, the jungle bunkers are not numbered.

Trivia[]

In the Dead Island Official Strategy Guide, the walkthrough for the side quest A Voice from Above the Sky says that ID Card #65 can be found next to the radio in the turret.^[3] However, this is incorrect as the ID card actually appears in the Smugglers' Den inside the bus.
- Furthermore, ID Card #65 has been correctly placed at the Smuggler's Den with its position described later in the book.^[4]
