Dead Island Wiki

Ronald Crown is a character mentioned in Escape Dead Island. He was the CEO of GeoPharm until his death, in which his son Emory Crown took over in 1997. He left audio logs of the progress of GeoPharm on Narapela.

Ronald founded GeoPharm with the aim of curing diseases. As he put it, "A means to an end, a necessary evil to cure disease." He moved from San Francisco in America to the Banoi Archipelago to establish several laboratories, including one on Narapela. He constructed a mansion for himself to live in while not at work in the lab on Narapela along with his son Emory.

He hired Chase Barrister, Kevin's father, to help him build a new laboratory to research cellular mechanics in. This lab was built slightly off-shore and was soon producing results. Chase discovered a major find which they called the Hewitt Kahn enzyme accelerator, or HKEA, which Ronald says will, "change the world."

However, shortly after this discovery, Emory started pushing more and more towards wanting control of the business, hanging around wealth-seekers and people claiming to be a part of a group called the Palm Garden Order. During this time, Emory discovered the HKEA was very dangerous and not yet ready for live testing, as it rapidly produced cancerous growths and needed further testing and development before it could be safe for testing on humans or animals.

Ronald was shocked when an unknown, unauthorized researcher for an outside group suddenly conducted a live test using HKEA and killed a patient as a result. Ronald was shocked and disgusted, demanding a complete stop to the HKEA testing and development, as it wasn't what he envisioned for the company when he founded it. However, Emory wasn't happy about this and sent thugs to beat up and kidnap his father, who he locked in the facility. Ronald prepared to escape and warned Chase to get out of there as his life, and that of his young son Kevin, was in danger from Emory. Soon after, Emory came to Ronald and forced him to sign over ownership to Emory, and by extension the Palm Garden Order, which Ronald didn't want but was powerless to stop.

The shock of his son's betrayal and seeing what GeoPharm was turning into was too much for Ronald and he died soon thereafter, leaving Emory the CEO of GeoPharm and the new Crown in charge of the company.
