The Riot Gear Walker is a zombie featured in Dead Island 2. They are variants of the Walker most often found in urban areas such as Beverly Hills or the Halperin Hotel.
Overview[]
Riot Gear Walkers are former Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) riot police officers who were tasked with attempting to quell violence in the city resulting from the zombie outbreak, as well as assisting the US Army alongside other officers with maintaining order at evacuation sites.
They behave in a similar manner as normal Walkers. They are slow and will attack players once alerted. Riot Gear Walkers are initially immune to melee and projectile attacks. After being hit a few times, their armor will break off leaving their bodies exposed to damage. Their riot gear also protects them from fire, shock, and caustic damage until it is broken off. Riot Gear Walkers are unable to grapple or bite players if they are wearing their helmets. As such, it is advised to break off armor other than their helmet so that they can only perform swipe attacks until their body is exposed. However, it should be noted that a Riot Gear Walker's helmet is the easiest to knock off compared to armor on its other body parts.
Appearance[]
Riot Gear Walkers wear an LAPD riot police uniform consisting of a navy blue and black police shirt, dark blue pants, a black police belt, a black leg holster strapped to the right leg, and black police boots. Over this, they wear various pieces of riot gear including leg and knee pads, arm and elbow pads, a riot vest and a riot helmet with a clear visor.

Trivia[]
- Dead Island also features Walkers adorned with riot gear/armor. Like the Riot Gear Walker in Dead Island 2, their armor/covered body parts are more resistant to damage. These Armored Walkers can be in the town of Moresby, most notably the Police Station.
