Rifle Ammo is the ammunition used for rifles in both Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. It comes in two different boxes, either a small rifle ammo box or a large rifle ammo box, containing either 15 or 30 rounds respectively. The Hero can carry up to 60 rounds of rifle ammo in reserve, as well as a full magazine in their rifle of choice. The box itself is a small blue cube, with a top mounted lid. There is a white stripe running diagonally across it which has the brand name on it.
Usage[]
Rifle ammo is the ammunition used for all rifles in the game. Whether you're using a single shot rifle, burst rifle, automatic rifle, sniper rifle or semi automatic sniper rifle, this ammo will supply it. Unlike pistol ammo, rifle ammo is far more difficult to come by, as are rifles themselves. Whereas many punks in Moresby use pistols, not a lot of them use rifles, making rifle ammo a lot more scarce. The place you'll first find a decent amount of ammo for a rifle is during Act III in the Jungle. When you assault Afran's base, a lot of his soldiers use rifles, who will drop a box of ammo upon their death. There will also be ammo when you fight Afran himself. The leaders of the punks at the Supermarket also use rifles, but they don't drop ammo on their death, so the jungle is the best place to receive this ammo. It's also most easily found in Act IV at the Prison as lots of ammo is scattered around. The best place here to get it is in Cell Block A but also at the Hospital and Prison Rooftop. It is unable to be sold to Merchants, traded to other players or dropped on the ground.
In Dead Island: Riptide, like all the other ammo types, rifle ammo is hard to come by before reaching Henderson. This is due to the lack of human enemies before entering the final part of the game, so there's no real way of obtaining ammo of any type unless it's Special Ammo for the new firearms added to Riptide or bought from the isolated merchants that sell it in the Flooded jungle. However, it's more plentiful in Henderson with various tables having ammo boxes lying on them and most safe houses having a source of ammo somewhere to collect.
