The Police Station is a location featured in Dead Island within the city of Moresby. It was the headquarters of the Moresby Police Service, however, when the outbreak first began, most of the police officers were sent out to stem the tide of zombies. Unfortunately, most ended up dead, missing, or infected, leaving the station vulnerable to the Raskol gangs.

The Police Station is a constant landmark of Moresby to the Heroes. While not accessible for a vast majority of their time in Moresby, if near a radio they can always hear the punks inside there warning away anyone from approaching the station, as they have taken over and will not help anyone.

However, during the main quest Lady in Trouble, they are forced to assault the station through the Sewers and take out the punks inside it to rescue Jin. The punks have abandoned the lower levels of the police station to the zombies, all the way from the cells to the parking garage, however they are swarming over the upper floors of the station, using it as their safe zone. After they were killed, the station is overrun with undead, something the heroes have to watch out for if returning to the station to complete a couple of side quests.

In Ryder White's Campaign, it is revealed that the reason the lower levels were abandoned is because Ryder White previously attacked the police station to retrieve some explosives. After fighting through the punks, those that remained decided to abandon the lower levels of the police station and just fortify the upper levels instead, leaving it to be overrun by zombies, which is how the heroes find it later.

Layout[]

From the outside, the Police Station is a large, grand and imposing building right near the centre of Moresby. It is a two floor building with a large tower in one corner, which adds another two floors and clock to the overall building. There's a large fenced vehicle gate which leads to a large underground parking garage. The architecture is very Victorian, with a lot of stone and ornate columns and decoration making up the building.

Inside the police station, it's very dark and claustrophobic, with thin corridors and packed office rooms. The parking garage is the widest, most open area and it's got a lot of police cars strewn about, as well as the armoured truck from where Jin drove in to deliver supplies. A part of the garage has electrified water covering the floor with some boxes acting as stepping stones. Following completing Lady In Trouble, the garage will become more deadly, often housing a Thug or Suicider, possibly even a Ram. The lift is out of action with a zombie feasting on a body inside it. The cells are overrun, with Walkers and Infected here, with a Thug inside the control room.

The punks are located just after the cells, inhabiting the upper floors of the station. The armoury has been looted and signs of the fighting are seen all over the area, with blood and bodies on the floor as well as a bunch of anti-police slogans scrawled roughly on the walls by the punks. Up here the power is similarly off, making using the flashlight a necessity. A stairway upstairs is located at the back of the main reception which leads to the upper offices. These offices are located off a thin central hallway which navigates through the upper floor. The offices themselves are a lot of divided computer offices with thin walkways through them. The final office has the chief's office in it and it's larger than a normal one, with a large cleared office in the back left corner, which is where the chief's receptionist would sit. The chief's office itself is unreachable, but it can be assumed to be a large, personal office.

Quests[]

  • Imprisoned for Life - the hero has to free Reza, a police officer, from the cell he's being held in.
  • Matter of Justice - find the files relating to the murder of Tim's wife on a detective's table so Tim can get vengeance.
  • Lady in Trouble - rescue Jin from the Raskols at the station who have captured her after she tried to help them.
  • Paperwork - find out what happened to Bill and get the information from the police chief's computer.

Notable loot[]

  • The Hot Rod Mod is found outside the police station, on a table in front of the entrance to the parking garage.
  • The Pistol Ammo Recipe can be found in the cells control room where the Thug is located.
  • The Shotgun Ammo Recipe can be found in the archives room across from the Chief's office.
  • The armoury, while looted, has a metal chest inside it.
  • The two cabinets next to the armoury entrance door often have a firearm of some sort inside them. Usually a rifle or shotgun.
  • A Walker can be seen feasting on a corpse in an elevator located in the parking garage. The elevator cannot be entered since the opening is too narrow. It is rather hard to reach and kill the Walker, but blows can be landed if you do it at just the right angle.
  • There's a bunch of energy drinks scattered across the interior of the station if you need health.
  • When you return to the station after Lady in Trouble, most of the dead, even upstairs, wear police uniforms despite the original explanation that most of the police officers were out fighting the infection when the Raskols took over. It’s plausible that they attempted to reclaim the police station but failed.
  • This means that there are a lot of armoured zombies, who take less damage and don't take increased head damage, so these are some of the tougher zombies you can face.

Trivia[]

  • A glitch can occur within the Police Station, allowing multiple zombies to spawn directly in front of the Hero, especially in the second stairwell.
  • Although the area within the glass walls is labelled as the chief's office, the actual office is behind the closed door, where Jin is being held during Lady in Trouble. The aforementioned area is most likely the chief's secretary station or meeting area. This means the Hero is actually downloading data from the chief's secretary's computer during Paperwork.
  • In the room after the armoury, where there are four Walkers lurking, you can hear the sound of footsteps and keys jingling as if the ghost of one of the police officers wanted to fulfil his duties even in the afterlife.
  • The chief's office and surrounding office spaces are reused as the interior of the Bank of Henderson in Dead Island: Riptide.
