The Pick of Destiny is a variant of the Pickaxe and a Legendary Weapon in Dead Island, given out as a Quest reward. It also appears in Dead Island: Riptide, however it has a set spawn location and will always spawn as a white 'common' rarity weapon.
Overview[]
Compared to regular pickaxes, since the Pick of Destiny is a legendary version, it is superior in every regard, even to an orange 'legendary' regular pickaxe. Since it's a two handed weapon, it's got high force but also requires a lot of stamina to swing. It is also a slow attacking weapon, so for fighting Infected or fast zombies like the Butcher, the Pick of Destiny is a poor choice. While its damage is high for a two handed weapon, especially a two handed blunt weapon, it is still lower than a regular one handed or even lighter two handed weapon like the metal kanabo or big baseball bat. This is offset by its long range, capable of hitting zombies well out of their own reach, meaning for fighting large enemies like Thugs or a group of Walkers, the Pick of Destiny does well, sometimes more so than a sledgehammer.
It is also one of the few weapons to make a return in Riptide, however it has lost its legendry status. It instead appears in a set location as a common rarity weapon, though retaining its name. Is is found in Halai Village on the porch of one of the elevated huts by the islands in the southeast area of the village. It can be seen laying beside Part 5 of Angela Guerra's recordings. Due to being relegated to common weapon status, there is little reason to go out of your way to get the item other than as a collectors piece, as it can spawn with the various Weapon Affixes for weapons such as 'tired' or 'frail', which only harm its stats. The weapon is no better than a Pickaxe that might be found on Merchants or in metal chests.
