Pearl Sands is a location in the Flooded Jungle featured in Dead Island: Riptide. It serves as the Hero's introduction to Palanai Island after surviving the prologue quest The Storm. After the events of The Storm, the Hero is awakened by Harlow, who ensures the Hero is alright and advises them to go to the Paradise Survival Camp while she will look for other survivors on the beach. Pearl Sands is also the focus of the side quest, Heavenly Gift, in which Chimamanda asks the Hero to scavenge supplies scattered throughout the area from the shipwreck.
Layout[]
Pearl Sands is a beautiful beach with white sands, crystal blue water and various patches of palm trees. The beach's coast is nestled by natural rock formations and waterfalls can be seen in the distance, further into the island. At one end of the beach is a small fishing pier and hut, which has various nets, traps and destroyed boats at the pierhead, while the hut is boarded off. A ramp pathway leads to the cliff head which has various pathways leading inland. The Two Sisters waterfalls join onto the beach with several natural pools of water which have various plant life living in them. At the other end of the beach is a natural cave which was used by a group of survivors who ultimately succumbed to the infection. Out towards the sea, the wreck of the HMAS Avenger can be seen, stuck against some rocks where it ran aground after the storm.
Notes[]
- A Metal chest is found inside the hut next to the ramp leading up to the cliff head.
- Angela Guerra Recording Part 1 can also be found inside the hut.
- There will be bodies on the beach when you first wash up there after The Storm, but even when you kick them they will not come alive. The beach will also be void of any zombies until you return later on in the story after completing the main quest Back to Reality. When you next come to the beach, there will be Walkers and Infected on the beach and all the previously inert dead bodies bodies will come alive. Likely they were attracted by the sound of the ship crashing.
- There's a dead zone at one end of the beach, the Sandy Cave, so come back when you're levelled up with some good weapons and take it on.
- There's also a bunch of mod items scattered along the beach including plenty of gears.
