Painful Insanity is a medium difficulty side-quest given to the Hero by Harland in Dead Island. It only becomes available after completing the Full Metal Jacket quest of the main story line.
Synopsis[]
The Hero must retrieve some Thorazine from the infirmary, and give it to Harland for his friend to be fine.
Walkthrough[]
- Talk to Harland to start the quest.
- He asks you to get some medicine for his friend. He'll go crazy and start killing people if he isn't calmed with his medicine soon.
- Exit the canteen and travel to the stairs up that you used to get to the armoury.
- When you get to the top of the stairs, immediately turn right and go through the double doors. Take the first left and then go through a door on your right.
- You'll find the medicine on the desk or otherwise search the room for a small bottle of medicine.
- Return to the stairs and get back to the canteen.
- Talk to Harland to hand over the medicine. He'll thank you and that finishes the quest.
Notes[]
- Harland states that the prisoner needs his dose of Thorazine in order to prevent him from getting out of control. Thorazine (also known as Chlorpromazine) is an type of antipsychotic used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia. Harland also states that the prisoner was capable of taking on five guards. It is possible that the prisoner's case of schizophrenia developed a personality with hostile or homicidal traits.
- There are other undead in the area, including some semi-random appearances of Walkers and special Zombies (one time I encountered two Infected, another time a Thug). As such it's possible that even following the minimalist path you may face an extra foe or two.
Glitch[]
- An Infected will spawn on the other side of the back wall of the doctor's office, though it will detect you when you enter the office. It will always clip through the back wall and attack you, so be ready for it.
