Ope's Cave, called in game the Native's Camp, is a location featured in Dead Island. It is the home of a native tribe led by Koritoia Ope after they fled their homes at the Tomb of Natives.[1] It is first visited by the Heroes in Act III for the main quest Man of Faith, where the Hero needs to pass an arena trial and kill the Infected Warrior to collect a blood sample for Dr. West.[2] It is then visited in the follow up main quest Pure Blood to get Ope and have him go with the Heroes to get the tissue sample. After Ope's death[3] and the fall of the Laboratory[4], the natives continue to stay at the cave and presumably use it as their new home. The continuous quest Dreamtime is also found here from a native warrior.[5]

Layout[]

The cave is very literal in its name. It's just a cave that the natives are residing in. The main area of it is dominated by a large sunken battle arena. There's a ladder to reach the arena floor from the huts as well as several large doorways that are used by zombies to enter the arena. Around the edges of said arena are a collection of native huts that the remaining tribe members are living in. There's a main entrance to the cave which is a big wooden double door, initially locked to outsiders. An alternative pathway leads from the left of the main entrance and around to the back of the arena, allowing access to the arena floor by jumping down.[6]

Notes[]

  • When going around the back of the cave to enter the arena and bypass the gate, there's a couple of wicker baskets to loot.
  • Various basic weapons can be found on the arena floor such as broomsticks, in case you run out of weapons during the fight.
  • A machete can also be found lodged in some wood but available for pick-up.
  • A lot of fruit can be found in the arena for emergency health mid-fight if you don't have a medkit.
