On the Set is a medium difficulty side quest given to the Hero by Dave in Dead Island: Riptide.

Help Dave shoot the ending to his movie.

  • Talk to Dave to start the quest. He's relocated to Halai Village after abandoning the flooded caravan in Mataka Village, located on a roof just a little way south (on the map) from the fast travel location and Halai Village safe house.
  • After retrieving his camera, he's adamant that he can still salvage the movie. He's somehow captured a Thug and placed a white cross on the floor in the alleyway below him. If you can get the Thug onto the cross and kill it while he records it, he'll make you a star and you will've saved his movie.
  • Head down the ladder to the floor below and use the prompt on the door where the Thug is to release it.
  • Once the Thug has reached the white cross, start bashing it! There's just one complication to this otherwise straight forwards and easy looking quest...
  • The house opposite Dave has an Infected spawner, and they will continue to spawn as long as you are in the area, meaning that not only will you be fighting the Thug, but multiple Infected will be raining down on your head, causing damage and distracting you. No matter how many of them you kill, the Infected will keep spawning because of the nearby spawner in a village roof, so try to focus on the Thug.
  • Once the Thug is killed, quickly scramble up the handy ladder to Dave and talk to him to finish the quest.

Strategy and tips[]

  • Have a lot of medkits and a good damage weapon. If you're lucky, you can deal with the Thug quickly with a good chain of hits to the head.
  • The danger and difficulty of this quest comes from the constantly spawning Infected, so keep an eye out for them.
  • If you have the meat bait mod and some meat baits in your inventory, throw them periodically to try and keep the Infected busy so you can focus on the Thug without them harassing you constantly.
  • Otherwise, stunning the Thug with an critical effect (such as a shock critical effect) will stop it from attacking you for a short while, giving you a brief respite to either heal or deal with the swarm of Infected surrounding you.

  • Sometimes the Infected will either climb or glitch onto the roof that Dave is on. They will not attack him or even acknowledge his presence, so you don't need to worry about the quest failing because of it.
