On the Air is a medium difficulty side quest given to the Hero by Dominic in Dead Island.
Synopsis[]
The Hero must travel to the Lighthouse and retrieve a Signal Amplifier to repair the antenna at the Lifeguard Tower.
Walkthrough[]
- This quest is deceptively simple.
- Talk to Dominic to start the quest.
- He wants you to get a signal amplifier from the Lighthouse to boost the radio at the Lifeguard Tower.
- Get in the car at the Lifeguard Tower and drive to the Lighthouse.
- If you've not repaired the car, either complete that quest then reload the game to have it fixed, or walk to the Lighthouse. If walking, you can either follow the road or take the scenic route via the beach.
- Either way, when you reach the Lighthouse for the first time, you need to talk to James Stein at the top of the Lighthouse.
- James will ask you to help people around the Lighthouse with the Knockin' on Heaven's Door side quest, so pick that up as it's just a quest to take more side quests (it's quest-ception with these early quests!)
- You need to take it in order to talk to Darvin anyway.
- Darvin guards the storehouse that you need to enter and he won't let you in to get the signal amplifier.
- He'll only let you in if you complete his side quest A Ray of Hope.
- So to recap. In order to complete Sinamoi's quest To Kill Time, you need to complete On the Air. However, to complete On the Air, you need to complete A Ray of Hope. Confused yet?
- Complete A Ray of Hope for Darvin so you can open the storehouse.
- Grab the signal amplifier from the shelving to your left. Don't worry, it goes straight into your inventory so you don't need to carry it to a car.
- Use the fast travel map on the wall of the Lighthouse to travel back to the Lifeguard Tower.
- Talk to Dominic to finish his quest and, if you've finished Ashes to Ashes, talk to Sinamoi to finish To Kill Time.
Notes[]
- If taking the car, complete the side quest Bloody Valentine for Jessica Nelson. You can complete it straight away on your journey to the Lighthouse.
- Dominic disappears from the Lifeguard Tower after this quest is complete. He can be seen once on the roof, however, where his Wrench can be taken.
Glitches[]
- After Dominic disappears his wrench is still on the Lifeguard Tower, hanging in mid-air where his toolbox had been when he was there.
