The flat mountain top
The Mountaintop is a location featured in Escape Dead Island. It was the site of a radio station or a weather monitoring station, as it is one of the highest points on Narapela, with views over the Staff Village, Airfield and Crown Residence. Cliff and his friends first come here to get their bearings after their boat sinks. Linda and Devan later come back and stay at the Mountaintop after Linda is bitten by a Bouncer. After collecting the Labs Main Keycard, Cliff Calo wakes up inside the building
Layout[]
The mountaintop is accessible via a cave system which leads to the flat top of the mountain. There's a pathway from the cave system which also has some short wooden stairs. There are no railings at the top of the cliff, but there are some fantastic views of Narapela and the surrounding jungle. The biggest structure on the mountaintop is a large metal square building which is originally inaccessible, but unlocks later to reveal it to be a small kitchen with some bunk beds, to keep the researchers supplied. A picnic table has been set up in front of the building which has a wheelbarrow next to it, indicating that whoever worked here wanted to keep the plants well kept. Some deck chairs and parasols are also found up here, likely for the researchers or operators in the building to relax when not working to take in the sights.

- There's a medkit to the left of the building, next to a parasol and deck chair.
- You get the two-way radio here.
- A katana is found here, inside the hut, but it requires the hidden keycard to open the case it's in. This is only possible during New Game +.
- Postcard 4 can be found within the cave system leading up to the top of the Mountaintop. The Grappling Hook needs to have been acquired to access it, as you need to grapple to the top and travel down an outside path to the postcard. Some Ammunition and a Medkit can also be found here.
- Research Log 1 can be found just after the pile of bodies at the base of the Mountaintop. After going over the natural bridge, there's a rock to the left, and behind that is the log, inside some bushes.
- GeoPharm File 24 can be found during Mission 9 - Father's Day in the cave system leading from the Beach. There's a small stream which has a natural bridge over it, leading to an attachment point. After going up, head right and the file is on a rock in clear view.
- Likewise, GeoPharm File 25 can be found in the same area, but before the attachment point. To the left the attachment point, on the other side of the steam, is some bushes and the file is hidden in there.
- Taking a picture of the Crown Residence from the top of the Mountaintop with the Camera gives Snapshot 15.
- Taking a picture of the pile of bodies at the base of the Mountaintop with the Camera gives Snapshot 17.
- Taking a picture of the building on top of the mountain with the Camera gives Snapshot 30.
- Taking a picture of the sun lounger from the top of the Mountaintop with the Camera gives Snapshot 33.
- Taking a picture of the globe in the building at the top of the Mountaintop with the Camera gives Snapshot 34.
- Taking a picture of the subway train at the top of the Mountaintop when it appears later with the Camera gives Snapshot 37.
- Taking a picture of the crate of beer next to the sun lounger at the top of the Mountaintop with the Camera gives Snapshot 50.
- Taking a picture of the shrine that appears at the top of the Mountaintop with the Camera gives Snapshot 63.
- Taking a picture of the football trophy on the top shelf in the building at the top of the Mountaintop with the Camera gives Snapshot 76.

Trivia[]
- The carpet inside the building at the top of the Mountaintop is a reference to the 1980 horror movie The Shining, as it is the exact same pattern at the carpet in the Overlook Hotel, the main setting of the movie.
