The Morning Star is a type of blunt melee weapon featured in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. It can be given out as a Quest reward, sold by various Merchants and found in metal chests or on killed Zombies.
Overview[]
Morning Stars have quite decent stats, especially for how relatively quickly you can acquire one. They have quite a high stamina cost, but have high force and moderate damage, with good durability and a medium swing speed. Thanks to its high force attribute, the Morning Star is excellent for taking out Infected and Walkers, since a few hits to the head will crush it. The high stamina cost means taking on a large horde can be a liability, but against lone or small groups of zombies, the Morning Star is an excellent weapon to have. Additionally, the Morning Star is a very viable weapon against Thugs, as its high force and decent damage means you can easily break limbs and deal good damage, taking down its health.

Notes[]
- In Riptide, Pierre will give one out for completing his side quest Fire Sale.
- Various merchants can sell Morning Stars:
- Javier Wimsatt at the Lighthouse at the Resort can sell a Morning Star.
- Florencio Morales in the Warehouse can sell one after completing his side quest Spicy Drinks.
- Rodrigue at Saint Christopher's Church can also sell one.
- Cahaya Dian in Moresby can sell one.
- In Riptide, Trevor Rogers can sell a Morning Star after completing a stage or two of his Team Quest Best Merchandise for Trevor Rogers.
- Despite the spikes, unmodified Morning Stars cause no bleeding damage.
- In Dead Island: Riptide, the spikes are gone for an unknown reason.
- Morning stars have three different varieties in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. These are purely cosmetic and do not affect stats:
- The first variety is a traditional one. A large metal ball on a stick, with many vicious spikes protruding from it.
- The second variety is identical to the first though, for some reason, does not have any spikes.
- The last variety is only found in Dead Island: Riptide. The metal ball has disappeared, replaced with a human skull.
- In Riptide, Sam B will carry a Morning Star with the Torch Mod applied for completing the final level of his Team Quest Upping the Odds for Sam B.
- This is unique in that the Torch Mod is unable to accept the Torch Mod for the player, yet Sam B will wield one with it applied.
