Moresby Gas Station

The Moresby Gas Station is a location featured in Dead Island within the city of Moresby. It's a small gas station near the middle of the city, just outside of the quarantine set up by the Australian Biological Institute.^[1] During the initial outbreak, the gas station was converted into a strongpoint, likely by the Banoi Island Defense Force^[2]. Ryder White makes his way to the gas station to be evacuated from Moresby after destroying the City Bridge,^[3] being airlifted from the roof by Super 25.^[2]

At some point prior to the Heroes arrival in Moresby, the strongpoint had been taken down and all the supplies looted. The Heroes will first visit it during the main quest Boat Supplies, where the hero has to get two gas cans for Mowen's Boat to make sure that they have fuel to get to the island prison in the bay of Banoi.^[4] There are no survivors anywhere near the gas station and the whole place is devoid of any life, both living or otherwise.

Unlike the other two gas station found in the Resort, the Moresby Gas Station is quite a lot smaller and less well maintained. The whole footprint of the station is smaller, and inside it is far more barren. There's just one building for the shop with a small covered maintenance area with a shed off to the side. There's two gas pumps with no covering so if it rains, anyone filling up will get soaked. There's still a tall billboard at each entrance with the price of gas, but there's no other features beside a low stone wall around the area.^[5]

The main shop is just a small rectangular building with some shelving inside for goods and a small counter for the cash register. There's a shed to one side which is not enterable and is featureless other than a door and the metal construction. There's a small partly covered area attached to the side of the gas station building which covers some propane tanks and a workbench outside of it.^[5]

During the initial outbreak, the building had been converted into a strongpoint, outfitted with a wooden and corrugated metal defensive stage on the roof accessible via ladders and some wooden boards. A wooden covering was extended to the pumps area while various boxes of ammunition and weapons had been left on the roof. Likely this was set up by the B.I.D.F. to act as a staging point or FOB for their efforts to contain the outbreak in Moresby.^[6]

There's only a couple of Walkers on the ground which will come alive when you enter the gas station grounds. Otherwise, there's very few enemies.
- Saying that, two Infected will charge at you when you first pick up a gas can. They will not respawn, however.
There's occasionally an unrelated Ram nearby which may be attracted by your presence, but not always and it's not directly related to the area.
With a bit of parkour off the workbench, you can get onto the roof of the covered section attached to the main building and then onto the roof of the gas station. There's nothing up here, however, so unless you want a view of the nearby area, there's no reason to go up here.
There's a lot of propane tanks in the covered area if you need something explosive for some reason.
You can find a working vending machine inside the shop.
This is one of two locations that has a working vehicle spawn in Moresby, the other being the Pump Station.
