Marco is a main character of the Dead Island comic published by Dark Horse. Richard lives in Serramonte, California with his longtime friend Richard Nguyen, where they spend their time playing video games and doing drugs. Marco used to be a police officer for the Serramonte Police Department, but was presumably fired and subsequently hired as a security guard for the GeoPharm lab based in California. He managed to get Richard a job in the lab as a delivery boy and they worked together until the outbreak.
4 days prior, the two are sitting in their home with Marco smoking a bong and Richard playing video games. After getting into a small argument, Marco tells him to take out the trash. When Richard comes back after narrowly escaping Mr. Georgescu, their now undead next door neighbor, Marco reveals that he knew about the zombies but never told Richard. The two decide to break out of their house and head to the police department to get guns to shoot the zombies. They exit the house with musical instruments as weapons but soon commandeer a child's bike and big wheel to make their travel faster, with Marco taking the bike.
After travelling for a while, they run into Shelly, Marco's police officer girlfriend. She reveals that she stabbed herself with a cake knife after she was bitten in an attempt to avoid turning. This failed and she dies soon after running into them. In anger and grief, Marco uses the bike on the following horde as a club whilst Shelly soon reanimates. Marco is too busy killing to realise she's turned but is saved from being bitten by Richard, who scoops him up with the big wheel and they escape, dragging the undead Shelly behind them. He later makes it into the GeoPharm lab along with Richard and meet a woman named Lacey.
Appearance[]

Trivia[]
- It's never revealed how Marco managed to get back into the GeoPharm lab as it was meant to be in one of the later issues, which were never released.
- It's also therefore unknown how he and Richard escaped from the undead Shelly, or how they met Lacey.
