Locked Armory is a hard difficulty side quest given to the Hero by Kevin in Dead Island.

Synopsis[]

The Hero must grab a master key off a senior guard so that they will be able to help Kevin unlock the armory.

Walkthrough[]

  • Talk to Kevin to start the quest.
  • He'll explain that he's been trying to hack into the armoury, but nothing is working. It's locked via a keycard reader, so he asks you to go get one from the senior guard.
  • Head back down the corridor and return to the barricade where you fought a couple of prison guards. Continue behind the barricade towards an office at the end of the corridor.
  • The door to this office will now be unlocked. If you went to it before accepting this quest, it would be inaccessible.
  • Ready a firearm if applicable. There should at least be a pistol on the floor where you killed the guards at the barricade. You need it as there's around 3 guards in the office and they all have rifles. Trying to charge into melee combat is a suicide move.
  • Once you have a gun, open the office door and be ready to quickly kill them. Like I said, they all have rifles, so go for headshots and use cover. Once the guards are all dead, move into the office but be careful of the open door to your right.
  • The chief guard is in there, hiding behind his desk with a rifle. Use the door as cover and kill him as well.
  • Loot of two offices and the keycard is lying on a small table with a potted plant on it.
  • Head back to Kevin and be ready to fight some zombies.
  • While he swipes the keycard, whatever he did messed up the system. It's now opening doors to the corridor rather than the armoury.
  • There's a double door at the end of the corridor which will open last. There's several Infected, some Walkers and a Thug in there, so be ready to fight them when it opens.
  • The Infected will charge out first, so kill them when they reach you, then deal with the Walkers. The Thug is easy on his own.
  • Return to Kevin and open the door to finish this quest and continue the main quest which runs alongside it.

Notes[]

  • There's a propane tank next to the double doors where the zombies come from. If you place it just in front of the doors, when they open you can shoot it to easily kill the Thug and Walkers if you time it correctly. It makes it a lot easier.
  • The zombies have a red skull icon on the minimap when the door opens, making it easier to keep track of them.
  • You'll complete this side quest while completing the main quest Full Metal Jacket. This side quest is mandatory, as you can't complete the main quest otherwise.
  • When you unlock the armoury shortly after completing this side quest, you'll see it stripped bare. The reason is that Ryder White got there first in the Ryder White's Campaign.
