Letter to Maggie is a quest item featured in Dead Island: Riptide. There are actually a total of four different letters which are addressed to Maggie at Halai Village and left to her by her friends who were searching for a safe place to stay during the outbreak. The Heroes discover these letters during Maggie's side quest Safe Haven, where she asks them to go and look for her group of friends, who left Halai in search of shelter. Following a trail, they follow her friends to a treehouse, campground and cave all in the Flooded jungle before they found a local man, likely Marcus Villa, who showed them a way to Henderson. They managed to make it to the Motel "Safe Haven" in Henderson, which unfortunately became overrun by Zombies which sadly killed all her friends. After discovering their fate and the final letter to Maggie, they take them back to her.
Transcripts[]
“We made it to the tree house. We have plenty of food and supplies. Tomorrow we're going west -- we really hope we can find more permanent shelter. Those things can't be everywhere.”
“Maggie: We reached the edge of the backwaters, and this place is completely overrun. They attacked us, and I escaped major injury -- thankfully I was only bitten on the hand. It could have been much worse. We've decided to turn around and go farther inland. I pray we can find someplace that's safe.”
“Maggie: Things are bad, really bad. We met a local man who showed us a way to Henderson. Tonight we're hiding in cave -- it's simply too dangerous to move around in the dark. Tomorrow we're going to try and reach the town.”
“I'm infected - it must have been the bite. The others have locked me in a room, and I'm thinking about killing myself. I fear that no matter what I'm going to do that I'll turn into one of those things. And that scares me more than anything, even more than the thought of dying. God, I can hear them outside, trying to get in. We're all going to die. Goodbye, Maggie. I'm sorry.”
