Let the Waters Flow is a medium difficulty main quest given to the Hero by Joseph in Dead Island.

Synopsis[]

The hero is tasked with turning off the water flow, lowering the current water level and making their way through the Sewers to reach the Town Hall.

Walkthrough[]

  • This quest will be activated as soon as you enter the Sewers.
  • You need to head down the short walkway and enter the main area.
  • There'll be a ladder in front of the flowing water.
  • Head up the ladder and turn off the first pipe using the circular valve.
  • Head around the higher walkway, killing the zombies on the ground who will come alive, and turn off the second pipe using the same method.
  • This will shut off the water, allowing you to access the other raised area leading to the control panel.
  • If you're brave, you can parkour over to the walkway, bypassing the ladder.
  • If not, just head down the ladder and walk over to the raised area, heading up the ladder attached to it and killing the zombie up the top.
  • Head into the control area. Be careful of the Suicider in the room behind. It can sneak up on you if you're not paying attention.
  • There's a workbench in that back room, as well as a weapon mod, so grab it and keep your weapons repaired, you'll need it.
  • Upon turning the switch, the cutscene will play to formally introduce you to the Floater.
  • There are several methods to deal with it, as it's joined by Walkers and Infected.
  • You can either go down and kill them normally, but that's the dangerous route.
  • If you can parkour back onto the other raised platforms, you can throw explosives down on them, such as Grenades or Deo-Bombs. Don't use Molotovs as the Floater is fireproof.
  • No matter the method, after killing the lot of them, you'll get the XP and the quest will complete automatically. From now on, Floaters will spawn throughout the Sewers.
  • Head straight to the T-junction from the floor.
  • Take a left and head through the door into a wide open room with some Walkers and another Floater.
  • Kill them all and head through the door at the other end. Take out the Walkers first to make dealing with the Floater easier.
  • You'll enter into a room with a slope to three entrances. Kill all the zombies here, usually consisting of some Walkers, two Infected and a Suicider.
  • Kill them all and head through the open tunnel into the hall. Follow it around to the right where you'll encounter more Walkers and a T-junction.
  • Head to the left of the junction where you'll eventually head into a room with some Walkers, filled with steam.
  • Hang back and kill the Walkers, heading to the left of the room to avoid the steam pipes. Head through the door to the right.
  • You'll be above a lower level of the Sewer, where there'll be a Floater and more Walkers. There's a propane tank up here to help with the Floater, but the Walkers below are covered in toxins, so a molotov will easily one hit kill them.
  • Jump down after they're all dead and head through the corridor to your left.
  • Through the door is the last section of the Sewers before the Town Hall. It's a long straight section with a door at the end.
  • There's two raised sections to the right which have Infected on them. Stick as far to the left wall as you can and if you're lucky, you won't enter their detection range. Otherwise, you'll have to fight them as normal.
  • Reach the end, go through the door and travel to Town Hall to finish the quest.

Notes[]

  • There are always various propane tanks on the upper levels of floors which have them. They're a useful way of killing the Floaters quickly.
  • You can find the Shock Gun Mod on a shelf above the workbench in the room behind the control room.
