The Left Hand of Glova is a developer's craft weapon blueprint featured in Dead Island. This Developer's Craft must be unlocked via the coloured Skulls found across the game.

Like all other dev craft mods, the Left Hand of Glova is an extremely powerful weapon that has both upsides and downsides. On the one hand, the weapon is extremely powerful with an impact effect on successful hit capable of knocking down any Zombie hit by the weapon with exception of the Ram. This hit will knock them to the ground like a normal KO, leaving them vulnerable to a headstomp. However, the biggest downside is that a single hit drains all of the Heroes Stamina, leaving them vulnerable to being knocked down if they get hit. The other drawback is the weapon's low durability and high repair cost, something shared amongst all the dev craft weapons. As such, the weapon should only be used as a novelty item against isolated Walkers or Infected or against certain harder enemies such as Thugs.

Like all dev weapons, the weapon has no applicable weapon mods, though it must be crafted through a blueprint:

  • Like all dev craft weapons, it can't be found in the world and must be crafted at a workbench.
  • Also like all the dev craft weapons, when crafted the weapon is of grey Item Rarity and capped at level 1.
  • As the weapon drains all of the heroes stamina, it puts them in a very vulnerable position if used amongst a group of enemies. Caution is advised in such situations.
    • The player's stamina bar does not have to be completely full to use this weapon, even though it drains the entire bar.
  • The cost of repair is $12,500 from a durability of 0%, and it can become very costly considering its low durability, so it should not be used constantly unless the player can afford to repair it regularly.
  • The weapon appears invisible on the ground, so it is advisable to have one free slot when crafting it, otherwise the player may have to scan the ground until a pickup notification occurs.
  • In some cases it can burn out the enemy skin completely.
  • The weapon has been heavily nerfed in the Definitive Edition. While still being able to knock down Walkers and Infected, it can no longer stun any other zombie, making it less useful.

  • The weapon usage animation resembles the Electro Bolt plasmid ability animation in BioShock. When the weapon is used without stamina, the animation looks similar to the one in BioShock injecting the protagonist's arm with EVE. (The animation is the same as injecting a medkit, albeit without the medkit.)
  • The weapon name is probably a reference to the left Hand of Vecna.
  • The animation also remarkably resembles the lightning spell animation from Fable II.
  • The Right hand of glova appears in Dying light another game by Techland.
