Ken was a survivor featured in Dead Island.
Background[]
Ken was a member of the security team at the Royal Palms Resort, and he is first mentioned inside the hotel during the main quest Born to be Wild. After getting through the Hotel lobby, the Heroes encounter a security guard named Mike Davis. He agrees to help them get to the parking lot if they first find out what happened to his partner, Ken, who was trying to reach Mike before being overwhelmed.[2]
After fighting through the Hotel, helped by Mike, the heroes locate Ken, who is hiding in a small office, injured and delirious, likely from being bitten while trying to get away. He requests morphine for the pain,[3] and tells the Heroes that there's a first aid room not too far away.[4] After retrieving the morphine and injecting it, Ken starts to hallucinate, talking to his mother about wanting to pet a puppy.[5] After this, Ken dies, and Mike, after saying a few words for Ken,[6] agrees to follow through with the deal and help the heroes reach the parking garage.
Appearance[]
Ken is a middle-aged man with short black hair and a clean-shaven face. Unlike most male survivors in the Resort, he is fully dressed with a security uniform consisting of a white shirt, a black tie, dark trousers, and dark shoes. He also wears a small radio on his shoulder, which links to the receiver, likely in one of his back pockets, and a silver watch on his left wrist.[7]

- Oddly, once Ken dies, his eyes continue to blink.
- Since the player never returns to the Hotel after this, it's unknown what happens to Ken's body. Since he was most likely bitten, he could have turned to wander the Hotel as an undead, or his body could have been eaten by a passing zombie.
- In the Definitive Edition, Ken is Caucasian.[8]
- It is unknown why the Dead Island developers would change Ken's race in the remastered version.
