The Justice Mod is a weapon mod featured in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. It was added to Dead Island in Patch 1.3. The mod can only be applied to a Heavy Hammer. When used at a workbench, the mod adds a heavy impact effect and impact damage to the weapon.
Overview[]
The mod is found towards the latter half of both games, which does lend itself to the mod having some good attributes it it. For how relatively late the mod is acquired, at just $600, it is quite cheap to craft, though its large mod item requirements doesn't do itself any favours. Thankfully, quite a few of them are easy to find, like Wire and Batteries, which does alleviate some of the pressure. When all is said and done, the mod is very potent, no thanks in part to the impact nature of the mod. It is comparable, though perhaps more favourably, to the Shocking Crowbar Mod, which makes it excellent at dealing with Walkers and Infected, with the impact effect capable of catapulting them into a wall at high speed which is both fun and effective. The mod is very good for dealing with crowds of these zombies, though it is also very good for breaking limbs of enemies such as Thugs, and the impact effect can take them down with an explosive finale. Visually, the mod applies a battery pack on the handle of the hammer with excess metal below the head to give it extra weight as well as wires connecting to the metal head.
The downsides of the weapon primarily comes from its limited choice of applicable weapons. It is only applicable to the Heavy Hammer, and if one of these has yet to be found, or purchased from a Merchant, the mod is completely useless. It also has quite a large requirement of mod items to craft, and whilst most of these are easily found common items, there are a few more rare items which can be tricky to source, namely the Weight Plate and Clamps, which can hold back crafting the weapon, even if the base hammer has been found.
You surely have access to a hammer. It just takes some looking around and playing MacGyver to change the simplest tool into a makeshift weapon capable of crushing and knocking down the largest thugs you come across. In other words - the dream of every handyman.
