Jackson is a survivor found in the Halai Village safe house in the flooded jungle in Dead Island: Riptide. He guards the gate to the safe house and is dedicated to his new job.
Background[]
Jackson is the leader of the survivors barricaded inside the Halai Village safe house. The heroes first encounter Jackson during the main quest New Beginnings while trying to locate a boat for the survivors at Paradise Survival Camp to use to get to Henderson. However, he frostily tells them that there's no boat there and that he can't let them in, instead telling them to try Marik's Marina, which is nearby.
He is next encountered at the end of the main quest, Pathfinders, when the heroes ask him if he knows a different way to Henderson, as the vehicle bridge is out. He suggests finding a holy man named Marcus Villa who knows the island 'Like the back of his hand'. He then gives the heroes the main quest, Saving Holy Man, to go rescue Marcus. Only after this will he finally let the heroes enter the safe house with Marcus.
He is encountered once more when the group moves to Halai temporarily after Marcus burns down Paradise Survival Camp. While looking for the entrance to the Japanese Tunnels, the heroes and the rest of the survivors from the old camp stay at Halai, but Jackson does not offer any more quests or say anything to the heroes. After they leave for the Santa Maria Mission, Jackson stays with the people in Halai until the end of the game.
Appearance[]
Jackson is a man in his 30s with short black hair and a full beard. He wears a sleeveless, dirty yellow t-shirt, brown trousers with a black belt, and brown boots. He also has a bandage around his right lower arm and a pouch attached to his belt. In the Definitive Edition, he has lighter skin.
Trivia[]
- While Jackson carries a Pistol with him and is seen carrying it at all times, we never see him actually use it, as zombies never enter the safe house area, since they are blocked off by boxes, and their AI doesn't let them enter it, so Jackson never uses the weapon. Therefore, we don't know if the programming is in place for him to use the gun.
- Jackson can sometimes be heard exclaiming the same voice lines as Punks and Raskols from Dead Island.
