The Homemade Machete is a variant of the machete featured in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. It can be received as a Quest reward, sold by Merchants or found on killed Zombies or in Metal chests.
Overview[]
The homemade machete is an entry level sharp weapon, along the lines of a homemade double blade, for example. It has decent damage and handling stats for a low level character, though the force and durability leaves something to be desired. For a character starting out, the homemade machete is good for cutting off limbs or getting decapitations, but its level cap is 24, after which new ones will no longer be available from drops or metal chests, instead regular machetes and other, superior versions of them will become available. There's very little practical reason for keeping a homemade machete past level 30, as far super sharp weapons will be available which are better in every way.

- Florencio Morales at the Warehouse will sell one after completing his side quest Spicy Drinks.
- Both Cahaya Dian and Kurt Keeble in Moresby will sell them.
- In Riptide, Pierre in the Flooded jungle will sell one after completing his side quest Fire Sale.
- In Riptide, Zoey can also sell one, but this will disappear from her stock after completing one or two levels of her Team Quest Best Merchandise for Zoey.
- In Riptide, Rodrigo in Henderson can sell one.
- In Ryder White's Campaign, a homemade machete can be found on a corpse between the bus and the building with the drop on it in Queenscliffe during the first quest The Eagle Has Landed.
- It is still possible to find homemade machetes after level 24, but only if they have a set spawn point in the world or are carried by a Walker, which is random.
