Hit and Run is a medium difficulty side quest given to the Hero by Omar Torres in Dead Island.
Synopsis[]
Omar needs to collect money he's owed from a deadbeat. You need to find the keys to the safe where the money is kept, and the keys are on the undead deadbeat.
Walkthrough[]
- Talk to Omar to start the quest. He's located in Bungalow 17, near the Hotel.
- He wants to get into the safe in the bungalow of the man who owes him money. He saw him walking around undead, so he won't need it anymore.
- Head out of the bungalow and get to one of the bars, it's marked on your map.
- You can either travel through the bars area to get there, or head down the stairs next to the bungalow and travel down the wall of the Hotel and head to it that way.
- Either way, it's the bar directly up from the stairs leading down to the Lifeguard Tower.
- Head into the bar to update the quest. There's no zombies here, so head straight through and follow the trail of blood on the ground to an underground toilets.
- Head down the toilets to find Omar's deadbeat. He's a Thug in one of the end cubicles.
- If you have an impact weapon mod, you might be able to knock him to the floor. Otherwise, deal with it as best you can. It's tight down there, so avoid his swings at all costs.
- After killing him, get the key from his body and head back to Omar.
- Once you arrive back, talk to Omar to advance the quest.
- He will now move out of the way of the door and you can enter the room.
- The safe is behind a painting above the sofa.
- Once it's open, talk to Omar to finish the quest and get half the money as promised.
- You can now start his last quest, Omar Escort.
Notes[]
- The restrooms where the Hero finds the Thug may cause an annoying bug to occur where the player is prevented from leaving the room (due to the inability to ascend the stairs leading out).
- One way to counter this is to sprint and jump off the final flight of stairs and keep jumping to the right. When the player lands on the ledge, they can jump over the luggage and continue with the quest.
- Another possible counter to this problem is to walk up the stairs backward and jump continuously until reaching the top.
- A Molotov Cocktail is an excellent way to kill the Thug in the restroom. At low levels it will die before it can reach the Hero.
- There's some canned food in the cubicle where the Thug is. Take it as it'll be needed in multiple quests.
- You can easily continue Anne's side quest Toy Story if you take it before coming to find Omar, as the bungalow holding Teddy is just next to Omar's bungalow.
- The safe does not refresh, so you can't return to the bungalow to loot it again.

- "Hit and Run" usually refers to a vehicular accident in which one or more at-fault parties leave the scene without sticking around to help or for the authorities to show up. It's a crime in most jurisdictions.
