History Lesson is an easy difficulty side quest given to the Heroes by Dr. Kessler in Dead Island: Riptide.

Synopsis[]

Dr. Kessler requests that you gather some important research documents and samples from within the Japanese Tunnels for him to study and further understand the infection.

Walkthrough[]

  • Talk to Dr. Kessler to start the quest.
  • He wants you to get some things for him from within the tunnels.
  • You won't have access to it right away, so wait until you reach the main quest The Tunnels to continue it.
  • Once you're in the tunnels, go through it as normal until you find a puddle of luminous chemicals at the collapsed tunnel. It's under a collapsed barred gate and there's a metal chest next to it to help you identify it. Take a sample then continue on your way.
  • Continue through the main quest as normal to descend the ladder to the lower level, after turning on the first power.
  • Go through the tunnel and go to the left at the t-junction. Normally you'd go to the right for the main quest, but for this, you want to go to the left and around the corner.
  • You'll see a puddle of luminous green chemicals which has the body of a Wrestler in it. You won't have encountered one of these before, so don't worry about it for now. Loot its corpse for a tissue sample.
  • The rest of the tunnel is blocked off, so turn around and proceed to the main room of the tunnels complex. This is the large room which has the radar dish.
  • Go down the ramp to your right, then go to the left at the bottom of it to reach the cells area on your left.
  • Explore the cells, kill any zombies to make the area safe, and look around the cells area to find a notebook. It's located on a metal desk, so search them first.
  • Once you find it, proceed through the tunnels to reach the end. Once you're at the ferry terminal and you've cleared it out, you can use the fast travel to get back to Kessler and complete the quest.
  • Alternatively, you can wait until you've cleared out the Henderson Ferry Station and use the fast travel there.
  • One final option you can choose is to collect the note book, then return all the way to the Santa Maria Mission to use the fast travel there, but that's a lot of back tracking and you'd have to go all the way through the tunnels again, so it's not a good method.
