The Heavy Wrench is a variant of the Wrench that appears in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. It can be given as a Quest reward, sold by some select Merchants or found on killed Zombies or in Metal chests.
Overview[]
The Heavy Wrench is a larger, two handed version of the regular wrench and, after reaching level 24, the only variant of it that spawns thereafter. As it is a larger wrench, it deals more damage than the smaller wrench, though the damage is still rather low, even for a blunt weapon, but has far greater force along with good durability. However, the weapon takes quite a lot of stamina and time to swing due to its weight and bulk, though its size means it has a very good range for attacking Zombies outside of their attack range. It also has a good swing arc, making it a good crowd control weapon against multiple Walkers, though a poor choice against swarms of Infected or against a Butcher due to its slow swing speed. Furthermore, the weapon only accepts a couple of mods, which harms its useful potential. The weapon is of some use to Sam B who can use his skills to make it more viable, but an otherwise poor choice for all other characters, as its poor handling characteristics and low damage make it a worse choice compared to other blunt weapons.
