Heavy Equipment is a medium difficulty main quest given to the Hero by Samuel Hardy in Dead Island: Riptide.
Synopsis[]
You're tasked to go rescue some heavy weapons from a crashed helicopter to help defend the Santa Maria Mission while Trevor pumps out the water from the Tunnels entrance.
Walkthrough[]
- Talk to Colonel Hardy to start the quest.
- He tells you to go rescue a couple of miniguns from a crashed military helicopter not too far from the Mission. You need them for extra defence, as the pump will continue to attract the undead "like a dinner bell".
- It's recommended to take a boat to the location, as the miniguns require carrying to move them, making it impractical to move them on foot.
- The helicopter is located directly north of the mission, up the top of the map.
- Take a boat from outside the Mission and travel to the crash site. Be careful of Drowners who will attack you while in the boat.
- On the way, if you haven't already done it, you'll find the Rescue Megan rescue quest.
- There are multiple ways to reach the crash site. One is to go through a cave system which leads you past Miya who has a couple of side quests. Another, more direct way, is to moor your boat on the shore in front of a climbable cliff face.
- Either travel through the cave or climb up the rocks to reach the helicopter crash.
- There will be a Floater and some Walkers, so make sure to kill them first.
- The miniguns are still in their side mountings on the helicopter, so pick them up and throw them down the cliff to the boat.
- Load the guns into the boat's cargo slots and sail back to the Mission, being careful to not be killed by Drowners on the way.
- Once at the Mission, unload the guns and put them in the glowing outlines.
- Talk to Hardy to get your reward and then prepare your defences.
Notes[]
- This is one of the few times when taking a boat through the waterways is necessary.
- You can complete all of Miya's side quests while your there, as she's very out of the way otherwise.
- There's a metal chest at the crash site in the back of the helicopter, make sure to loot it.
- Make sure you pick up any mines you laid out for the previous quest that were not set off. They will despawn once you leave the area and you won't get them back, so don't waste them.
Trivia[]
- This quest, along with Stalwart Defense was shown off in the alpha build gameplay of Riptide.
