Harlan's Bungalow is a Bungalow located in the Resort in Dead Island. It is a bungalow surrounded by a metal fence that Harlan Johnson is found trapped behind by a swarm of Walkers.[1] The bungalow itself is located on the winding road between the City Tunnel Gas Station/City Tunnel and Jungle Tunnel. It's likely to be first encountered while finding the second juice pack for the main quest Seek'n'Loot for Sinamoi.[2] You can easily save Harlow from the zombies besieging him and unlock the bungalow for him to stay in. Harlan will then proceed to give out a chain of quests[3][4] and will remain in the bungalow for the rest of the game.[5]
Layout[]
The bungalow itself is most unlike the rest of the bungalows in the Resort area. It is larger than those of the bungalow districts, with a fenced off back garden as well as a metal fence for the front. It also has a gas powered generator. It's unknown exactly what the bungalow was used for, but from the wrecked pick-up in front of it, as well as the various crates and building supplies, we can assume it was being used as at least partially a storehouse of some kind. The bungalow is built like most other bungalows in the Resort, being wooden with a thatch roof, as well as double main doors and a single door at the rear on both the left and right of the bungalow. These rear doors lead to a fully enclosed back garden which has some potted plants and sun lounger. There's a couple of piles of crates which are used to get into the back garden of the bungalow.[6]
Inside the bungalow has a similar layout in terms of interior walls, however this is where the comparisons mostly stop. The back room which is normally the bedroom has instead been replaced with a gas powered generator as some sort of workshop type area. There's a workbench back here, while the generator itself is a small grey vented box with an exhaust which exits vertically through the roof. The main area is an all-in-one room, which acts as a living room and bedroom, which the bed squished into a corner, a table opposite it and some furniture scattered around the room. The bathroom is through a door next to the entrance, and it contains the usual sink, bath and toilet.[7]
Associated quests[]
Notes[]
- The bungalow will be locked when you first arrive, so during Make Yourself at Home, you enter the bungalow and kill the Thug inside to unlock the door.
- There's two metal chests inside the bungalow, which are good for looting when you come past.
