The Hammer is a blunt melee weapon featured in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide. It can be sold by certain Merchants and found in Metal chests or on killed Zombies. It has a maximum level cap of player level 24, after which it no longer spawns, and any given out as a quest reward or sold by Merchants will be capped at level 24.

The Hammer has decent stats for a blunt weapon, especially one which appears during the early game when players are low level. It has medium damage but quite high force for a low level blunt weapon, allowing it to break heads and limbs quite easily. It can take down Walkers easily and Infected can easily have their heads broken with a good connecting it. The weapon also has decent durability, if not the highest of the blunt weapons, and a relatively low stamina usage. It also has a medium-fast swing speed, allowing you to somewhat combat multiple or hordes of Walkers. It is also a serviceable weapon against Thugs, however for fighting any special infected, the weapon has a moderate reach, meaning that if you can hit them, they can hit you back, so dodging is important when fighting high health enemies.

- Florencio Morales at the Warehouse can sell one after completing his side Quest Spicy Drinks.
- Eric Cotner in Moresby can also sell a Hammer.
- Wes Tweddle in the Bloodbath Arena lobby can sell one.
- Henry Boyle in Riptide will use a Hammer with the Impact Mod applied as his weapon during Siege Events if the first level of his Team Quest Jury-rigging for Henry has been completed.
