The HMAS Avenger's wreckage off the shores of Pearl Sands, Palanai.
The HMAS Avenger was the name of the patrol ship that the Heroes landed on in the beginning of Dead Island: Riptide. It was under the command of Lt. Colonel Samuel Hardy until it was compromised by the infected crew members that were bitten by Yerema before crashing off the shore of Pearl Sands, Palanai Island during a monsoon.
Later, the player can see the ship in the distance from the shore of Pearl Sands, and is permanently inaccessible. Several boxes and crates of supplies can be found scattered across the beach, and in a later side mission, the player is able to scavenge bandages and canned food from what remains of them.

You never see the exterior of the ship from a close up, other than in the opening cutscene, but it appears to be a ship similar to a Type 23 or Type 26 Frigate, with a helicopter landing pad and hanger at the rear of the ship while a 4.5 inch naval gun sits at the front. The front of the ship has the main gun and likely also has a missile battery, since those frigates also have missile tubes located just behind the main gun. The bridge and radar array is located behind that, with a few anti-air guns scattered around the port and starboard side. At the rear of the ship there is the main hanger, large enough to house a Chinook helicopter comfortably, so housing Super 25 would be easy, if the helicopter stayed on board after the heroes were arrested on the ship. Behind that are various sized housings which likely hold equipment or ship systems.

- The designation, HMAS, stands for Her Majesty's Australian Ship; meaning the ship was a part of the Australian navy.
