The Glazed Mod is a weapon modification featured in Dead Island and Dead Island: Riptide . When used at a workbench, the mod adds medium bleed damage and a bleed critical to a range of blunt weapons.
Overview[]
The Glazed Mod is the next step up for bleed mods from the earlier acquisitions found earlier in the game. At $400 and double the parts required than earlier mods, it's a little more expensive to get but hardly going to break the bank. Requiring just 4 mod items of two Glue and two Rags, it's quite easy to craft, especially as the mod items are relatively easy to get a hold of. It adds a decent amount of bleed damage to the weapon and upon critting, it can deal out decent bleed damage over time, rapidly draining the health of whatever is hit. Visually, it adds a wrap of rag around the end of the weapon along with broken pieces of glass, causing the bleed damage.
In Riptide, the bats were all removed from its base items for an unknown reason, whilst two Riptide exclusive sharp weapons were added, the Scottish Dirk and Chinese War Sword, making them the only compatible sharp weapons for this mod.
There's not many drawbacks to the mod that makes it not worth using, however the biggest problem for the mod would be its acquisition. The side quest that gives the mod as a reward is a little out of the way and can be easily missed of never in the area. In addition, the house the mod is located in is unable to be entered after its completion in the original Dead Island. In Riptide, however, this is no longer an issue, likewise for the Definitive Edition, the problem was fixed. The weapon selection is not as wide as some of the earlier bleed mods like the Nail'd Mod or Barbed Wire Mod, but it's still a good enough array to be worth crafting, as well as being an upgrade to those mods. However, these are minor issues and doesn't make the mod less worthwhile to collect or craft, though it will eventually be superseded by superior bleed mods such as the Razor Mod or, in Riptide, Diamond Edge Mod.

The idea is straight like the piece of stick you'll wrap the rag around. Add some glue and most importantly - broken glass. A guy hit with that thing will bleed like a slaughtered piglet. Just be careful not to cut yourself with the glass shards when you are gluing them to the rag...
In Dead Island, the mod is found on the bed in Alicia Jacobs house during the side quest Uninvited Guests. In Dead Island: Riptide, the mod is found at the end of the pier at the Pinai Ferry Station, on a table.

Notes[]
- In the original version of Dead Island, Alicia's house was unavailable after completing her side quest, which meant if the mod (and by extension, skull) was missed whilst playing through the quest, they were locked out until an entire new playthrough was started with the same character to get back to Moresby to try again.
- This was fixed in the Definitive Edition, where the house is now able to be entered and exited as much as pleased, even if the quest was completed.
- When applied to the weapon, the name becomes 'Glazed[WEAPON]', e.g. Glazed Tonfa or Glazed Stick.
Trivia[]
- In the Dead Island: Riptide Strategy Guide, for some reason the Home Run is listed twice in the base items needed.
