The Exploding Meat mod for Meat Bait was a PlayStation 3 exclusive in Dead Island. It could only be acquired by PS3 players after completing a number of challenges in "Zombie Survivor Game" which was a time limited event, ending in late August 2011.

Exploding Meat is much like a pipe bomb in Left 4 Dead: It attracts zombies moments before it explodes. With this mod PC users have a chance to get in on the fun.

Installation[]

Copy Inventory.scr to your mods folder and open it (click here for a tutorial)

.

Search for the following line in the file:

    Item("Throwable_MeatJar", CategoryType_Throwable)
    {
        IdNameOld("Item_MeatJar");
        Name("&Throwable_MeatJar_N&");
        Description("&Throwable_MeatJar_D&");
        ItemType(ItemType_MeatJar);
        Visibility(true);
        MaxStackCount(30);
        Price(5);
        Mesh("weapon_atractor_a.msh");
        Skin("default");
        AnimPrefix("Molotov");
        PhysicsScript("DroppedInventory.scr");
        HudIcon("jar");
        Damage(0.0);
        DamageDuration(10.0);
        PhysicsDamage(0.0);
        ThrowImpulseLook(1300.0);
        ThrowImpulseUp(200.0);
        ExplodeDelay(1.5);
        ThrowEndSound("throw_spin_01.wav");
        StatsType(StatsType_None);
        LootLevel(5);
        LootType(LootType_Throwable);
        Color(Color_White);
    }

Replace the entire "Throwable_MeatJar" section with the following:

    Item("Throwable_MeatJar", CategoryType_Throwable)
    {
        IdNameOld("Item_MeatJar");
        Name("&Throwable_MeatJar_N&");
        Description("&Throwable_MeatJar_D&");
        ItemType(ItemType_MeatJar);
        Visibility(true);
        MaxStackCount(30);
        Price(5);
        Mesh("weapon_atractor_a.msh");
        Skin("default");
        AnimPrefix("Molotov");
        PhysicsScript("DroppedInventory.scr");
        HudIcon("jar");
        Damage(5000.0);
        DamageDuration(10.0);
        PhysicsDamage(70.0);
        DamageType(DamageType_Blast);
        ThrowImpulseLook(1300.0);
        ThrowImpulseUp(200.0);
        ExplodeDelay(5.0);
        ThrowEndSound("throw_spin_01.wav");
        StatsType(StatsType_None);
        LootLevel(5);
        LootType(LootType_Throwable);
        Color(Color_White);
    }

You can change the ExplodeDelay(5.0); (line 21) to a time that suits you best.

Now when you throw a Meat Jar it will explode.
