Gaia Falls is a location featured in Dead Island. It is the primary waterfall in the Mingende Jungle and is only accessible in Act III. The Heroes first encounter Gaia Falls quite early on to their trip in the Jungle, where the wooden bridge is destroyed so they have to continue with Jin on foot after killing all the zombies lurking at the waterfall.[1] During the side quest A Matter of Honor, the heroes will have to return to the falls to find the necklace of Mahina.[2]
Layout[]
Gaia Falls itself is a large, natural set of waterfalls which drop into a shallow river, likely caused by the falls. There's two different waterfalls, one large and the other not so much, but together they create a lot of noise from the rushing water. Gaia Falls is one of the most beautiful places on the island, displaying the beauty and power of Banoi, so it's fitting that it's one of the first places the heroes see when they first enter the jungle. A road bridge ran though the falls, over the river with a waterfall either side, likely done to not only create a path through the jungle but also to wow tourists who enter the jungle on holiday. However, the road bridge was destroyed at some point prior to the heroes arrival, indicated by the pile up and subsequent toppling of a bus off the bridge end, leaving a large gap and stopping any vehicle traffic getting through.[3]
Notes[]
- You can find a metal chest on the roof of the bus.
- Banoi Herald Excerpt #30 can be found inside the bus that's crashed off the end of the road. It's located next to the driver's seat at the front.
- There's another at the far water, in a short cave next to the waterfall.
- If you search the small bag on the bus roof before taking the side quest to find the necklace, you'll still see the text of it briefly before it disappears, since you can only find it when taking the quest.
