The Firefighter Runner is a zombie featured in Dead Island 2. They are variants of the Runner and are most often found in urban areas such as Ocean Avenue or Venice Beach.

Overview

Firefighter Runners are former Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) Firefighters who have recently turned and behave in the same manner as normal Runners. They are very fast and aggressive, capable of quickly rushing players and dodging heavy attacks. They can also push players back to interrupt attacks. Like normal runners, they are attracted to loud noises such as gunfire, explosions, and alarms. What sets them apart from other Runners is their firefighting gear. As with Firefighter Walkers, this suit makes them immune to fire, shock, and caustic damage. This can make them difficult to damage if a player only has weapons modded with these status effects. It also makes most environmental hazards useless against them. Despite this, Firefighter Runners are weak to sharp weapons and bleed damage. Their legs are also weak to maiming and they will become Crawlers if severed. Firefighter Runners can also be easily killed with projectiles and explosives and are vulnerable to ability skills like the Drop Kick. Like other regular zombie variants, Firefighter Runners can be distracted for a few seconds with the Bait Bomb and can be lured to specific areas.

Appearance

Firefighter Runners wear pieces of firefighter turnout gear such as a yellow firefighter's coat and trousers with bright yellow high-visibility bands and black boots. Some of them also wear firefighter helmets.
