Fire Sale is a medium difficulty side quest given to the Heroes by Pierre in Dead Island: Riptide.

Synopsis[]

The hero must bring Pierre fuel to power the generator in his hut. In return, he will give them a large discount at his store.

Walkthrough[]

  • Pierre is located at his shop, a short distance from the Paradise Survival Camp and right on the other side of the mountain at the back of the Santa Maria Mission. However, his shop is not available right now as he is surrounded by zombies.
  • Kill all the zombies and then talk to Pierre.
  • He wants you to bring him fuel from the nearby gas station so he can power the generator in his hut. He'll open his shop to you and the items will be 'half the regular price'.
  • Grab the Gas Can that's next to Pierre and start to head to the the nearby gas station.
  • Head up the slope away from the dead zone bungalow, which is a short distance from Pierre's Magasin. It heads to the main road. There's a few zombies here, so kill them and move on.
  • The road is notorious for having a lot of Infected spread out on it, so prepare to be bombarded by up to 6 Infected, if not more. Have a good weapon ready which is quick to swing. A staff is ideal.
  • Kill the Infected in the area then cross straight over the road to the gas station up the hill via the short road.
  • There's a lot of zombies here when you first arrive including a Thug, so kill the Walkers first before dealing with the big guy.
  • When the area's clear, place the fuel can next to the fuel pump and use the pump to fill it up.
  • Bad news, the pumps are empty here, so there's no fuel to be found for you at this location.
  • Place the fuel can in the jeep parked nearby and prepare for a long drive to Marik's Marina, a long way away from here.
  • Get in the jeep and drive all the way down the road until you get to a three way, triangular shaped junction.
  • Marik's Marina is right in front of you, through the wooden gate. There's a large sign above it with the name written on it anyway, so it's hard to miss.
  • The gas pumps are right on the other side of the gate, however the bad news is that there's also a lot of zombies here as well.
  • At the gas pump is a Thug and some Walkers. A short distance away is a Suicider which will easily detect you and come blundering over. Infected will also charge at you from the mist, so keep a good look out for all these threats.
  • You can use the Suicider as a mobile bomb to take out the Thug and some Walkers if you time it right. Otherwise, prioritise the Infected first, then the Walkers, then the Thug and finally the Suicider.
  • Once the area is clear, take out your fuel can and place it on the pump. Use the pump to fill up the can. You'll likely get attacked by more Infected while doing this, so prepare to get out of here as quickly as you can/.
  • Once the can is full, quickly load it into the back of the jeep and turn around to drive back to Pierre.
  • Drive all the way back to the same place at the crossroad where you crossed to get to the first gas station.
  • Unfortunately, you can't get the car to Pierre, so you'll have to get out and carry the can to him.
  • Head under the natural stone tunnel with the can to reach Pierre. It's the same way as you left him, so you should know which direction Pierre's Magasin is.
  • When you reach him, place the fuel can in the glowing outline.
  • Pierre will thank you for getting the fuel for him before promptly taking the fuel and shutting the door on you. So much for sticking together.
  • Pierre then proceeds to play loud, obnoxious music from his hut.
  • We're not standing for this, so we're going to smoke him out.
  • Search the area for three articles of clothing. They're not hard to find, as they're quite large things to find.
  • Once you're found three of them, use them to block the circular ventilation tube that sticks out of the wall of his bungalow.
  • After a few seconds, smoke will start to billow out of any hole it can find and Pierre will come out, coughing and spluttering.
  • Talk to him and the hero will threaten him. Pierre finally relents and lets you use his shop. This ends the quest.

Notes[]

  • It's not possible to speed up the quest by going straight to the Marina gas pump first. It won't be interactable until you've tried to use the one as the gas station first and even if you kill the enemies at Marik's Marina and then head back to the other pump, they'll have respawned by the time you return to the Marina.
  • It's possible to fill the canister without killing the Thug, however doing this takes more time because you'll have to lure him away, also you won't get the loot and XP from killing him.
  • Pierre, after being threatened, says that his goods will be "half the regular price". This is untrue, though only by a matter of degrees: the actual discount is 15% off of normal prices, not the 50% he promised. However, no other merchant offers his level of discount without having to complete their associated Team Quests first.
  • The song Pierre plays on his radio is widely acknowledged by Dead Island players as one of the most irritating songs in video-game history.
  • Because of his song playing, the area will constantly be swarming with zombies. There'll easily be around five Walkers there when you arrive and more will keep on coming so long as you're in the area.
  • Due to the fact that Pierre sells firearms so early in the game, completing his quest is a must, especially for those who chose Purna.
  • Completing this quest is the only way to get a reliable source of firearms before reaching Henderson.
